Lone Soldiers’ Families and the Jerusalem City Hall Project

Have you ever slept on a bed without sheets? It’s certainly not comfortable. Now, what’s it like to crawl into a bed with fresh sheets? That’s much better! The young people pictured here are thrilled about the new bedding they received as a gift from sponsors at Curt Landry Ministries.
We are grateful for your generosity, as these soldiers are able to freshen up their apartments and enjoy meals together. You are helping them create a family away from home.

- New Year Celebration
Can you believe we are already more than 3 months into 2019? This year is moving fast, and as we look back over the last few months, we can see how you’ve kicked off the year by making a big impact.
Because of you, these Holocaust survivors were able to celebrate the New Year with singing, dancing, laughing, and eating! You’ve given them the gift of joy with a simple donation. And joy is what begins to heal the heart.
“Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!”—Psalm 47:1
- Kitchenette Needs
If you remember, we had prayed and asked the Lord to help us provide a small kitchen for some of the Holocaust survivors. God answered our prayers! Because of you, the survivors now have a place to store, warm up, and prepare small meals throughout the week.
Now the leftovers from the Shabbat dinners won’t go to waste, and they can safely store them for several days in their new kitchenette!
“If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday.”—Isaiah 58:10
- Weekly Shabbat Dinners for the Holocaust Survivors
You’ve also allowed us to continue providing weekly Shabbat dinners for the survivors. This is a gathering they look forward to every week. The consistency of the fellowship time and the hearty meal may seem small, but they are incredibly grateful.
“… for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in…”—Matthew 25:35
Here’s a Holocaust survivor singing and enjoying his time at Shabbat.

We know that the planting of olive trees runs deep within the heart and heritage of Israel. These survivors were able to take part in the traditional planting and get their hands dirty this year. For some, it has been years since they were able to be a part of this celebration of trees, so they really embraced every moment.
“For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease.”—Job 14:7
- Liberation of Leningrad
Recently, our friends from the Holocaust Survivor Center were celebrating the day of the Liberation of Leningrad. Sam, Curt Landry Ministries’ coordinator in Israel, was able to arrange a very special event for them.
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”—Colossians 1:13-14
Sam invited survivors from Ma’ale Adumim, who have an amazing choir led by the well-known conductor, Mr. Isaac Nerkin.

“They sang old Russian songs together and, for the first time, they had dinner together. The menu was very tasty especially the Jerusalem mix grill that we served. They couldn’t stop thanking you all for your generosity!”

The Young People Living in the Curt Landry Ministries Safe Houses Made a Special Thank-You Note!

These young people are experiencing many life changes. But they are incredibly grateful for the consistency you’ve brought them in their young adult lives. They’ve been able to enjoy holiday meals, celebrations, and stability—some for the first time in their lives. Though this thank-you was from their Hanukkah celebration, we wanted you to see what they had sent.
“We want to thank you for the amazing Hanukah feast and for the love and warmth you gave us!” —The Boys and Girls in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv Apartments.

ALEH Children’s Home

These children are precious. Recently, we were able to provide bedding and comforters and pajamas for the children at ALEH Jerusalem. But because of your support, they have been able to proudly represent those who support them at a local marathon!
The marathon is coming up in a few weeks, so look for pictures in our next update!
For now, they are thrilled with the brightly colored sweatshirts you’ve provided.

Students at the Beit She’an School

Gifts such as musical instruments provide countless opportunities for these young people, who otherwise might not have many.
Here, a young lady from the after-school music program at Beit She’an School is sending her thanks. Instead of spending time in the streets in this turbulent area, she is able to learn to play the guitar after school. She’s gaining confidence, as well as finding purpose and joy as she stretches her mind and fills her soul with the sound of music.
