Sincerity… A Gift of Purity!

Sincerity is the quality of being free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy. The Greek word for sincerity translated is purity. Words like integrity, honesty, and genuineness are used to describe the attribute of sincerity. This Godly Strength is powerful and pure. Give praise to God that He has bestowed on you such a magnificent gift!

What does God say about sincerity?…

  • “Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” –1 Corinthians 5:8
  • Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14-17

Because of this beautiful gift of a sincere heart, you are like a fresh fragrance to those seeking Christ. Saved and unsaved will notice the aroma. Those who you speak with will be able to identify your pure intentions and feel the love of Christ. This is a powerful gift!

Sincerity is not…

The gift of a sincere heart is threatening to the enemy. Your motives are without deceit and the devil will tempt you to think of what you can gain from this gift. Paul writes in his letter to the Romans that our sincerity and love must be without hypocrisy. This letter to Believers in Rome tells us that it is our human nature to put on a veneer of sincerity when we are selfish or envious. Pray the Lord guards this true gift as only He can, that your motives are constantly taken captive and given to Christ for refinement and purification.

Be encouraged…

While it is not always easy to have a sincere heart, without any deceit, know that the Lord is constantly shaping this gift in you. As your blessed gift grows through a deeper relationship with Christ, the sweet aroma of purity and sincerity will freely flow from your words and actions. This reflection of God’s character is precious and treasured. Praise God’s goodness as He has gifted you with a gift of honor.

Prayer…

We want to pray with you! We want to encourage you in this amazing gift of sincerity. God hears any prayer of a sincere heart. Ask Him to expose any deceit that may be hidden in your motives… repent and ask Him to renew this gift with His purity and truth. We want to pray Psalm 51:10 over your life, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit with in me.”
