Generational curses wreak havoc on the bloodlines of so many. If you look back on your family and find devastating circumstances—poverty, sexual immorality, prison, murder—that present themselves generation after generation, it could be an indication that there is a bloodline curse.
Bloodline bondage that is passed down through the family line needs to be stopped before it carries on to future generations.
If it isn’t, it gets uglier, stronger, and worse with every passing generation. It is as if it gains momentum as it flows through the veins… into our children and our children’s children.
God warns us about this…
“…The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”—Exodus 34:6-7
If God’s love and forgiveness are rejected, punishment is brought upon the generations that continue to reject Him. But you can come into agreement with your salvation through Jesus—by His death on the cross—He will cast those sins as far from you as the east is from the west!
The Bible says this…
- “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith…”—Colossians 2:6-7 (emphasis added)
Those who are born again have had their iniquities nailed to the cross. But the enemy wants to continue to trip you up to bring cases against you before the Lord.
You need to bring God’s truth to the righteous Courts of Heaven and repent, forgive, and renounce any sin that has infiltrated the bloodline of your family so that the devil cannot continually come against you, trying to steal what is yours.
So that you can walk in victory!
Both known and unknown sin can rob us of so much. The Lord desires for His children to walk in restoration, health, prosperity, and peace. He never said it would be easy, but He did say it was possible…
- “…With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”—Matthew 19:26
- “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”—Philippians 4:13
God’s Word protects you from the thief. When you have no vision for your life… when your marriage and home are broken… when you are missing promotions… when your prayers are going unanswered… it is time to call upon the covenant promises of God and bring them before the Righteous Judge.
Deuteronomy 28 describes the blessings of obedience, which are protection, prosperity, and provision. He says He will establish you as a holy people to Himself! This is wonderful news! He will fill your storehouses and bless all the work of your hands when you seek His face and follow His instruction.
Remember, in your own strength you cannot accomplish this. You must call on the Holy Spirit’s guidance and wisdom.
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”—2 Corinthians 12:9
Praise the Lord!
When you go before your Righteous Judge, give praise to His holy name. He is the Creator and Controller over all situations and circumstances, even when we feel as though our lives are out of control.
He is our Shepherd, Provider, Restorer, Redeemer, Healer… and so much more!

- “My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh shall bless His holy name forever and ever.”—Psalm 145:21
Even though curses may flow through generations, when you bring them before the Lord and declare the blood of Jesus over them, they are covered and paid. There may be brokenness in your family’s line that the enemy loves to pass from one generation to the next. If not dealt with then chronic sicknesses, poverty, crime, and disobedience can get worse and worse with every passing generation.
- “…and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin… If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”—1 John 1:7, 9
Reading and absorbing the truth every day refreshes the soul, equips you with godly instruction, and protects you from generational curses.
When we bring these issues into the light and before the Judge, covering them with the blood of Jesus and forgiving anyone who has brought deception, disobedience, and idolatry into our bloodline, we formally declare the abandonment of any curse the enemy has put upon our family and we embrace the freedom we have in Christ!

- “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.”—John 14:30
- Death and the shedding of blood is necessary for the remission of sin. “And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission… but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”—Hebrews 9:22, 26
Call Upon the Promises of the Covenant!
Lift these binding words up in prayer. Release them into the atmosphere and put your trust in them. God’s timing is not ours; change may not be immediate. However, God does promise He hears our prayers and is working out everything for our good. Praise, repentance, and forgiveness are powerful forces against the enemy’s schemes. Remember where the war is—in the spiritual realm.
