Availability… You Have Answered Your Call!

Availability is the quality gift to be able to be used of God. As a Godly Strength, it is for God’s good work. Biblically speaking, it is putting your needs second to God’s will and others’ needs. With this gift, you have opened yourself up to listening to the Holy Spirit for guidance and where He wants you to serve. You truly have a heart for God and for His people!

What does God say about availability?…

  • “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.'”─Isaiah 6:8
  • “And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ They immediately left their nets and followed Him.”─Matthew 4:18-20

These verses are beautiful pictures of availability… what faith displayed is! When our hearts are open to whatever God has in store for us, we are truly blessed!

Availability is not…

Throughout scripture God uses the least likely to accomplish His will. Sometimes we forget this quality in our day. Availability is not ability. Simply because one does not possess the resources or skills that the world might see as useful, God wants to receive the glory. Therefore, He will use the available.

God wants us to remember that He alone is sovereign and is to be glorified, not the person doing His work. It is important that we pray for humble hearts and remember these words…

  • “I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images.”─Isaiah 42:8

Be encouraged…

With the examples of availability, we see the spirit of the servants being moldable by the Lord. You are truly be the work of God’s hand. May these words in Isaiah encourage your gift of availability…

  • “But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand.”─Isaiah 64:8

God is in control and invites you into His plan to further His Kingdom. Give thanks for your gift of availability!
