What Is a Prophetic Church?

The title of “prophetic church” or “prophetic ministry” is surrounded by controversy. But why? There seems to be a great chasm dividing Christian groups and ministries that is related to the emergence of prophetic churches.

  1. Why is there controversy about the prophetic church?
  2. What is at the root of this shift and tension in the atmosphere of the Church?
  3. What does the prophetic church have to do with the end-times?
  4. What is the hope we can hold on to during these shifts in the end-times?
  5. How can I know if a prophetic ministry is speaking a “now” word or is simply a counterfeit?
  6. How is the prophetic church related to the Jewish roots?
  7. How can I apply the fresh revelation I receive to my life?

If these are questions you have asked, God has brought you to the right place in His timing.

Curt Landry speaks into each of these areas directly. He provides biblical understanding, wisdom, and knowledge that you can apply to the season you are in so that the Word of the Lord is not blocked by debris, but instead, bursts forth like a rushing river and cleanses His people so they will receive.

It is when we are cleansed that we are protected, and the enemy cannot choke out our blessings.

1. Why Is There Controversy about the Prophetic Church?

“The controversy over the prophetic church has risen truly out of fear. Mark 16:15-18 says this: ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;  they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.’

“The gap we are seeing in the Church today is from the lack of deliverables. Jesus commissioned us to go into the world and preach the gospel. His Word says those who believe will be given authority in His name to perform miracles, prophecy, healing, signs, and wonders.

“There is so much anxiety and fear around miracles and healing. The dispensationalism argument about what is correct for today, and what took place then, muddies the water as to what the Body of Christ collectively can believe. It has caused ‘double-mindedness.’

“James said that a double-minded man cannot expect to receive anything from God (see James 1:7). Because of the fear and anxiety around the supernatural, people get hung up on what is physically seen. They make decisions and judgments based on the flesh rather than on the Spirit.

“Remember, flesh gives birth to flesh, and Spirit gives birth to spirit (see John 3:6). So, where miracles happen, you will find that the people there collectively expect something to happen—there isn’t a spirit of doubt to choke out the expectation.

“This act of coming out of alignment with fear creates a corporate atmosphere of glory driven by faith. In the Book of Acts, the Spirit came to those who were there in one accord and one place. This is where the Body needs to be going so that we can demonstrate God’s power with the authority He gave us to do so.”

2. What Is at the Root of This Shift and Tension in the Atmosphere of the Church?

“You see this shift happening because it is a supernatural reaction to the decline of the nations, which results from sin and poor decisions made by governments, cultures, and groups. The scripture says that it will get darker in these days (see Amos 5:18), and this is what is happening. This is what you are witnessing.”

3. What Does the Prophetic Church Have to Do with the End-Times?

“Matthew 24:4-7 says, ‘And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.”’

“We are in a season of the fulfillment of what Jesus warned us about. We must understand there are deceivers and those who want to stop the Word of God because they have a spirit of fear. We see this happening all around us on every mountain.”

4. What Is the Hope We Can Hold on to During These Shifts in the End-Times?

“During these end-times, it is a period to favor Zion. As we witness Matthew 24 fulfillment, the hope you have is that if you are one who is called to bring this end-time message to the nations, you are covered in the protection of your assignment, your provision, and your purpose.

“We are end-time vessels that have been created to be a voice. This is truly our season to be highly favored. We see that with the message of the One New Man. We see the favor and blessing God has poured out on those who align with us because we align in accordance with His Word.

“Isaiah 54:1-3 says, ‘“Sing, O barren, you who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,’ says the Lord. “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited.”’

“We have all been through a barren season, but when the remnant inside the Body of Christ starts to move into this season, it is time for us to sing, labor, and enlarge our tents. This is a time to be hopeful, not hopeless.

“This is a time to expand our vision. The Bible says hope deferred makes the heart grow sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life (see Proverbs 13:12). We are in that tree-of-life season and need to stay focused on the goodness of the Lord because there is a huge separation between the haves and the have-nots.”

5. How Can I Know if a Prophetic Ministry Is Speaking a “Now” Word or Is Simply a Counterfeit?

“Think of it this way—imagine you are in a different country and you use their money to buy something. After years of handling your home country’s money, you can literally feel the difference. If you spend time handling money, you will even be able to tell the difference between the real and the counterfeit.

“Prophetic churches and ministries are the same way. You must first be in the Word of God, always and constantly. If they do not align with God’s Word, or with the Spirit—for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life (see 2 Corinthians 3:6)—then they are a counterfeit.

“Missed prophecy can happen when the one giving it is speaking in a spirit of anger or fear, or out of manipulation and pride. It can be scriptural, but it is delivered with the wrong spirit. Over time, you will build the ability to discern.”

6. How Is the Prophetic Church Related to the Jewish Roots?

“The Lord is resetting our clock. What that means is that, currently, what we anticipate in regard to our time, task, and activities in our culture is centered around the Gregorian calendar. The Lord is shifting us to the Hebraic calendar.

“This isn’t just about celebrating the Feasts. The Feasts are tied to the spiritual visitations that want to deal with the season that you are in, and they are tied to the harvests on the earth. Genesis says that as long as the earth endures, there is seedtime and harvest (see Genesis 8:22).

“We are reliant on the weather and the earth’s cycles. The Lord has tied the human experience, as well as the spiritual experience, to the Hebraic calendar.

“The shift to the emergence of the prophetic church is preparing us for a new season—ultimately preparing us for the thousand-year millennial reign when everyone will operate out of the Hebraic calendar. We better get used to it because the New Jerusalem will be operating under God’s Hebraic calendar.”

7. How Can I Apply the Fresh Revelation I Receive to My Life?

“This applies to anyone. Whether you watch live stream or come to the House of David, One New Man Embassy, I recommend getting a journal and writing down the five main struggles you are battling right now in your life.

“As you are watching our services, you will notice that we will start to deal with those five things on your list within a few months.

“This is because we operate prophetically, so every message is prophetic for now. You will notice that the messages we preach are as a series—such as between Passover and Shavuot, there is the counting down of the Omer.

“For the counting down of the Omer, those teachings during the 49 days provide preparation for what will happen in the water on the 50th day.

“There are times to plant and there is a time to harvest. There is a time for deliverables of signs and wonders. When you operate according to God’s calendar, it is an invitation for a visitation from the Lord to deal with those things that are holding you back from moving forward—which are those things on your list.”

Curt Landry Leaves You with This Word…

“The Lord is pouring new wine, and you cannot put new wine into an old wineskin. The end-times prophetic church will operate as kings and priests with all the power of the great commission. They will go into the seven mountains of influence and take dominion over them.

“We are in the very beginnings of the shift. That shift is to empower the remnant where there is an apostolic network and five-fold ministries. The kings and priests and the five-fold ministry will operate together.”
