What does it mean to be a Jewish Believer?

People who are unfamiliar with Curt Landry Ministries might wonder exactly what we believe.

Are we Christians, or are we Jews?

One New Man believers (Ephesians 2:15)We refer to ourselves as One New Man believers (Ephesians 2:15). Quite simply we believe in honoring the Jewish roots of the Christian faith and our heritage. As Believers we believe that the Messiah will be returning while those who are strictly of the Jewish faith believe that the Messiah has yet to come.

We often joke that when the Messiah does come the question will simply be: “have you been here before?!”

At Curt Landry Ministries we believe that YES—the Messiah has in fact “been here before.”

In a very basic explanation, we follow many parts of the Jewish faith and traditions, but believe Jesus was (and is) the Messiah. While many people believe this to be a contradiction, it is a faith that has existed since the time of Yeshua (Jesus) Himself. After all, the vast majority of Jesus’ first followers were Jews themselves. Jesus, His disciples and most early believers still held to many of the most important Jewish traditions, while recognizing Christ as being the Son of God and the fulfillment of scripture. They were simply a “sect” of Judaism—not a new faith entirely.

While Judaism and the “sect” of Christianity diverged farther apart over the centuries, One New Man Believers are those who maintained the same beliefs and traditions as the earliest Disciples of Christ. We believe in both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament as being the word of God and authoritative scriptures.

We believe that salvation comes through acceptance of Jesus as the savior and we see Him reflected in many of the Jewish customs, traditions, and feasts. For example, while many Christians do not recognize Hanukkah or put much of an emphasis on Passover or Sukkot, we still place a great deal of importance on each of these holidays and all the feasts of Israel. We believe that these feasts should be considered the feasts of the Lord and still apply to us today.
