Truth is Essential

What makes a lie so effective that people believe it? Why does truth matter in this hour more than in any before? Why do we need to be mindful of what we speak, watch, and listen to? Join us below as we answer these and other questions about the importance of truth in this hour!

Hiding a Lie:

There are times in all our lives where we believe lies. Sometimes it is due to ignorance of the lie itself. Other times it is because we desperately want the lie to be true. Perhaps at times we even fail to care, because the lie is so small, or seemingly unimportant, that we do not see the point in challenging it. The damage it could do…

Still, what makes a ‘good’ lie? What causes us to believe lies? And how can we as Believers spot the lies of the enemy so we can prosper in God’s Kingdom?

Well, the ‘best’ lies are commonly those which can be hidden in plain sight. So wrapped in a layer of truth that they blend in or pretend to be something they are not.

Yes, lies that people WANT to believe are perhaps just as effective, but even those benefit from a layer of truth; after all, not every single person will want to believe it. Ignorance to the existence of a lie is often key, particularly if the enemy plans to spread the lie.

One way to show the effectiveness of hiding a lie amongst truth, is to imagine a large, beautiful garden. In this garden are thousands of all kinds of plants; flowering, fruiting, leafy, and coming in all shapes and colors. In the midst of the garden is one lone weed. Yet, it is not just any weed. It is beautiful, despite being a hindrance to the plants around it, and of all the people who go into the garden, very few even notice it. It is not common enough like a dandelion to be recognized by those who are not professional horticulturists. In fact, the weed is so well placed, that even if ten horticulturists were to enter the garden, only two might find it…

There is the weed, right in the middle of this beautiful garden, and even those who have the knowledge to know of its presence can easily overlook it. Can you imagine then, if thousands of people walked through this garden in one day, how few might notice it? Particularly when you consider that such a beautiful garden is not merely going to attract horticulturists. In fact, chances are only a small percentage of those who visit the garden will have that kind of background. Further, if only 20% of those with the skill set to recognize the weed even notice it, then in all likelihood would the weed not stay, with thousands of people left unaware!?

And would those who saw it even bother to tell those who are tending the garden? To speak forth what they saw? Would they speak the truth when it is only a single weed?

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.”—Ezekiel 33:6

Indeed, there may be those without professional horticultural backgrounds who possess knowledge of such a weed, but not that many professional pilots, doctors, police, architects, etc., will have such knowledge—even if they grew up gardening or enjoy it as a hobby. It is not their calling.

Further, in a garden where seemingly every inch of it is maintained to perfection, it is not in the minds of many to look for a weed… and the same is true when a lie is wrapped in a giant layer of truth.

What does this parable of a garden, weed, and people mean for us?

The weed of this parable is obviously a lie. The garden and plants within it—minus any weeds—is the truth. And the ability to see the lie—the horticultural background—is made possible through the Holy Spirit. Yet, because ears were not always tuned to the Holy Spirit—even amongst those who know Him—many failed to see the weed—the lie. They were not expecting deception in such a beautiful place, so even when the Holy Spirit nudged them, it was easy to believe that it was their own minds or that they were thinking wicked thoughts, when in fact it was Holy Spirit trying to point out a problem! Further, even those who saw the weed did not always mention it, because they assumed the gardeners would get it later—that it was not their place to call them out. After all, there was so much beauty, and everything else was so well-maintained… what could one weed do?

Yes, one weed—one lie—is not always going to destroy a garden of truth in a day, or even the whole garden… but weeds spread. Lies grow. And through that, plants of truth are choked! People begin to accept the lies as part of the garden of truth, instead of seeing them for what they are—life-sucking, destroying, un-Godly things.

In this hour, more than any before, we have to be aware of the tricks of the enemy. NOT in any way to praise the enemy or to give him glory… but to prepare for what the enemy might try. Further, we, now more than ever before, need relationship with God! We need to know His voice, listen to the Holy Spirit, and act when He tells us to move. We need to know our Shepherd’s voice. We need to be ready for the days to come!

This is the hour where truth is essential!

What We Consume and What We Say Matter!

“Guard your inputs.”—Curt Landry

We are living closer to the return of the Messiah than at any other point in history, and while that in itself is obvious, we often forget what that means…

Yes, it does mean that soon God will return and that there will be a New Jerusalem for a thousand years before we all spend eternity in Heaven; but God has not yet returned. He WILL, but right now we are in a season of preparation and warfare!

Days will in many ways become darker as the time for Yeshua’s return approaches, because the enemy does not want to lose. The enemy WILL lose, but he is desperate and fearful, full of lies and deceit, and therefore, we have to be mindful, on watch, and ready to act!

Prayer is becoming more important with each passing day, worship, fellowship, etc. As Hebrews 10:23-25 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching (emphasis added).

As the time for Jesus’ return draws closer and closer, we are meant to come together as one united body—as the Body of Christ! We are meant to be watchful, to be full of love, faith, hope, etc.

We need to guard what we consume—through our eyes, our ears, etc.—we need to guard what we pour out—through our mouths, our thoughts, our actions, etc. This is not a season for living on the fence, or for taking our time to choose if we will follow God fully or not. No. That season has passed. The season we are now in is fully focused on Kingdom purpose. It is one where we have to be deep in relationship with our Maker. Where we are listening to the Holy Spirit and following His voice; where we are able to tell when a garden of truth is hiding a lie, because we are so in tune with the Holy Spirit that even little lies are exposed!

We need to be careful choosers of our words, because we are living in a ten year window where what we speak has to come to pass… and we only need those things God desires coming to pass. We cannot afford half-truths, exaggerations, or out-and-out lies. We have to be in tune with our God, doing as Yeshua did—speaking only those things which our Father speaks, and doing only what He does!

It is time for us to move when God moves, and speak when God speaks!

It is time for us to be so in tune with the Holy Spirit that our ability to discern truth and lie is heightened!

It is time for us to run with the chariots of our God when He says to run!

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”—John 10:27
