Shedding False Labels | Understand Your Spiritual DNA

Did you know that the moment you are born again, your DNA changes? Not your physical DNA, but rather your spiritual DNA. This supernatural occurrence is something most Believers do not fully understand. Understanding this supernatural transformation in your spiritual DNA is a process that unfolds over time. Now is time for you to receive a deeper revelation into your spiritual DNA.

Jesus says…

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”—John 10:28-30

Think about this for a moment. Our bodies perish as a result of the sin in the Garden. But when we are born again, we will never perish. Instead, we are given eternal life, and no one can reverse that inheritance. 

This change in our DNA is supernatural. It happens in the spiritual realm and is something many of us do not activate because all we see or hear are false labels. We can be unaware of how many “sticky” false labels we carry.

Shedding the Sticky False Labels

When false labels stick, we feel stuck in our walk. If we want it unstuck, the first step is to shed the false labels by identifying them. Once identified, we can renounce them. It is then that our spiritual DNA is revealed. It is then that we can begin to see our identity in Christ. 

Seven Keys to Revealing Your Spiritual DNA…

1) Shed the false labels. 

The false labels are like giant sticky notes that contain words of shame, doubt, and unbelief placed upon you. They are words that have been spoken to you or about you. Perhaps they are words you have declared and believed about yourself. These false labels keep you from plugging into the power of your spiritual DNA.   

We encourage you to prayerfully ask the Lord to begin revealing the false labels that have been placed upon you throughout your life. Once you have identified them, cut them off with a prayer of repentance. 

2) Know your Savior. 

Christ paid the price for you to receive a new spiritual DNA. We know that Jesus—or Yeshua, in Hebrew—was fully man and fully God. It is through Him that you have been credited righteous. By His blood, you are washed clean.

It is through Jesus, the Passover Lamb, that you have passed from death to life, and are given new spiritual DNA.  

3) Know your heritage.

Understand what you have been supernaturally grafted into; this is your spiritual DNA. Romans 11 explains how Gentiles are “wild olive trees.” However, through Christ, we are grafted into a new family—Israel. 

God took what was wild and grafted it into a holy branch. This supernatural joining changed your spiritual DNA, and now you can partake in the root and fatness of the olive tree. 

4) Know your inheritance. 

Your inheritance reveals the blessings of your spiritual DNA. Your citizenship is not here, it is in Heaven (see Philippians 3:20). You are a co-heir with Christ. Your inheritance is blessed, hopeful, imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade. 

Take a moment to meditate on, declare, and believe this truth right now…

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,”—1 Peter 1:3-4 (emphasis added)

5) Know your family. 

Your DNA is passed down in your family line. Your spiritual DNA is passed down from your spiritual fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God credited Abraham as righteous because he believed (see Genesis 15:6). He made a promise to Abraham and repeated that same promise to Isaac and then to Jacob (see Genesis 26 and 28). 

The Lord wants you to remember that you are in the same family line as Abraham and, therefore, have the same inheritance…

• “Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.”—Galatians 3:7
• “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”—Galatians 3:29

6) Know your Father. 

Your Heavenly Father knitted your DNA together perfectly (see Psalm 139:13). The same applies to your spiritual DNA. When you recognize and come to know your Heavenly Father, you better understand your spiritual DNA. He begins to give you the desires of His heart because you now have His Spirit living inside of you (see 1 Corinthians 6:19). 

7) Know your new name. 

Just as God gave Jacob a new name, Israel, He gave you a new name too. Your covenant relationship with God changed everything about you. You are being transformed into the likeness of Christ. The old is gone and the new has come. You have been given new spiritual DNA!

You are a child, priest, king, chosen, son/daughter, and conquer in your Christ-given identity. You are worthy, not because of what you have done, but because the Creator of the universe says you are. 

Declare Your Spiritual DNA | Your Words Have Power

The same God who spoke the heavens, sun, moon, stars, and planets into existence speaks your new name and identity every day. The same God who brought life out of death and who stopped the storm with a word loves you. It is time to align your words with His. Declare your spiritual DNA. 

So many of us go through our walk of faith not fully tapping into the power of our spiritual DNA. Unfortunately, there was a time in the Church’s history that the enemy tried to cover up our spiritual heritage. He did not want us to walk in the fullness of our salvation.
