Resourcefulness… Finding True Riches

Resourcefulness is defined as “the ability to deal skillfully and promptly with new situations or difficulties.” The Godly Strength of being resourceful is incredibly useful and powerful for God’s Kingdom. If you have this character of God, you have embraced the quality of wasting nothing, and strategically finding ways to use what you have been given.

In the parable of the shrewd manager, Jesus uses the example of resourcefulness. When we read this passage with wisdom, we see Jesus is not applauding dishonesty, but rather bringing to light how we must be prepared and equipped to deal with difficult situations in our lives, using what God has given us.

“Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?”—Luke 16:11

If we commit our ways to pursue God’s Kingdom, and will do it with as much enthusiasm and endurance as we do other things, what great blessings we would witness!

God uses tragic situations in our lives to bring about something remarkably magnificent. He invites us to do the same with our resources. When we trust in Him with our riches, much or little, He will bless us with true riches.

God’s promise…

He sees our hearts, and when we manage what we have been given in this life with Godly wisdom, He entrusts us to manage things that belong to His Kingdom.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much…”—Luke 16:10

Because we live in a fallen world, we must be quick-witted and resourceful in our walk. In situations where we may feel that we have lost control, the enemy will tempt us to hold on to that which we have left for fear that we might lose everything. However, God asks you to do the opposite.

If you possess the Godly Strength of resourcefulness, your faithfulness is not determined by the amount you’ve been given, but rather by how you use it.

God’s theme throughout Scripture is all about placing our trust in Him first, above all else, and when we do He takes care of all things we would otherwise worry about. This is the great promise of peace that He provides.

Your gift of resourcefulness will be rewarded! Luke reminds us that those who are faithful, or resourceful, in the physical “right now” will be trusted with great spiritual riches… true riches. What an awesome promise!
