We Were Made to Experience God’s Glory

God’s glory is a precious thing. Something that, were it not for the love and mercy of God, we would be ill equipped to experience. Yet, God created us for and to experience His glory.

He has given us an invitation… but are we ready to accept it?

Join us as we explore the mystery of God’s glory and how we can experience it…

Glory?

From one end of the Word to the other—in both the Old and New Testaments—the word glory is commonly found, with nearly 300 uses in many versions and 369 in the New King James Version. And while every use of the word glory does not speak of God’s glory… most do.

But what exactly is glory?

Well, words that we could use to describe glory might be, splendor, or even power. Yet, while useful descriptors—particularly when teaching new Believers—they barely scratch the surface of what God’s glory actually is…

When it comes to God’s glory, a physical encounter might be the best way to understand it—and even then, who could describe it or ‘pin it down’?

God’s glory is overwhelming. It is awe-inspiring. It is able to envelop like a covering; one of peace and love, yet, possessing a holy fear of the Lord.

It is lovely and fierce. Unshakable and awesome. Holy and tender.

It is God. And it draws us to Him.

It is beyond expression…

And it is His glory that God created us to experience. It is this glory that we were made for.

God’s Glory!

“Bring me everyone who is called by my name,

the ones I created to experience my glory.

I myself formed them to be who they are

and made them for my glory.”

—Isaiah 43:7 (TPT)

We were created for God’s glory. To experience it. Yet, how do we?

The requirements to enter God’s glory—such as in the sanctuary where the Ark of the Covenant rested—before the sacrifice of Yeshua, were quite detailed. Throughout the Old Testament we read requirements for holiness, spiritual and physical cleanliness, etc. And with a few exceptions, it was limited as to specific persons at specific times.

Yeshua brought—through His life, sacrifice on the cross, and resurrection—greater opportunity to experience God’s glory. Because, it is through His Blood that our sin is expunged. Through His life we can discover how we are meant to approach God’s Law. And, through exchanging His sinless life for our sin-filled lives—reversing the curses and reclaiming the keys to His Kingdom—that which once kept us at a distance from God, has been burned away.

This does not mean that there are no requirements to experiencing God’s glory. It does not mean that we can sin as much as we like and then walk into the presence of God. It means that we are able to meet the requirements through Yeshua. It means that the veil has been torn… that we can meet with our God face to face!

Through repentance and turning from sin—with the Blood of Yeshua—we can experience God’s forgiveness… taking scarlet sins and turning them white as snow.

Through seeking God’s face, and not His hand, we cultivate a correct and true mindset—a heart that draws us to His glory.

Through coming before Him in humility, in love and not pride, we can withstand judgment and be found in right-standing with God.

And through the love and grace of God, we can enter into His glory.

We can experience who He is in a precious, unique, and unfathomable way.

God’s Glory as Told by the Word:

“So wake up, you living gateways, and rejoice! Fling wide, you eternal doors! Here he comes; the King of Glory is ready to come in.”

—Psalm 24:9 (TPT)

The Lord desires to enter our hearts. He is our King of Glory. The One who will allow us to experience His presence. We ought to rejoice and open ourselves up to Him. Open ourselves to receive His glory… to experience it deeply, and intimately.

“And he said, ‘Please, show me Your glory.’ … And the Lord said, ‘Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.’”

—Exodus 33:18 & 21-23

Those who seek the Lord desire His glory. There is something about it that we crave, because God created us for His glory.

Moses asked for it. And while God did not display the fullness of His glory to Moses… He blessed him with a portion of His glory. We too can ask God to show us His glory. And the Lord will answer us. His glory will cover and surround us!

“Who is this one ascending from the wilderness

in the pillar of the glory cloud?

He is fragrant with the anointing oils

of myrrh and frankincense—

more fragrant than all the spices of the merchant.

Look! It is the king’s marriage carriage—

the love seat surrounded by sixty champions, the mightiest of Israel’s host,

are like pillars of protection.

They stand ready with swords

to defend the king and his fiancée

from every terror of the night.

The king made this mercy seat for himself

out of the finest wood that will not decay.

Pillars of smoke, like silver mist—

a canopy of golden glory dwells above it.

The place where they sit together

is sprinkled with crimson.

Love and mercy cover this carriage,

blanketing his tabernacle throne.

The king himself has made it

for those who will become his bride.”

—Song of Songs 3:6-10 (TPT)

Yeshua is after His bride. A bride who embraces the fullness of His glory. Who is enchanted by it. Who rests in it. And who enters into the love and mercy He offers.

Are YOU ready to accept all that the Lord has to offer?

Are YOU ready to become the bride of Yeshua? A bride who embraces His glory and does not hide away.

Are YOU ready to experience the Glory of God? The King of Glory?

He is waiting for YOU! He is waiting…
