Holy Spirit Series | All Things Work Together for Our Good

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”—John 14:15

Jesus did not give this Word only as instruction, but as a cause and effect, mere evidence of our love for Him. When we love the One True God, we cannot help but listen and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Once we follow the Holy Spirit’s lead, we begin to walk in God’s will. This, in turn, brings us into His calling for our lives, and things begin to work for our good.

“And we know that all things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”—Romans 8:28

The ability for our sovereign God to operate every detail in our lives is manifested in this verse. We go through times of suffering and heartache; however, God’s magnificent power is active in our lives and He uses those times of struggle to work together for our good and His.

God does not say, “I only work the major things out for you,” but He works ALL things for good according to His purpose. When the Holy Spirit begins a work in you, He promises to finish. He does not abandon you in the midst of a trial.

In Genesis, we see how the Spirit of God hovered over the waters and made something out of nothing. He created all things and they were good. In Hebrew, LORD means Adonai. This envelops the concept that God is LORD, owner and creator of all things. We do not get to decide how our Adonai uses us. However, we can rejoice in the fact that He desires to use us for His good work. Problems arise when we decide for ourselves, with our limited understanding, what works best for us. We get out of line with God’s perfect order. Yet, we can be assured that when we seek Him, He will use those moments to bring about restoration.

Goodness

As we participate with the Spirit, He shapes us into the image of the Son. When we love God as our Adonai, we invite Him in to conform us. We ask Him for His plan to take up residence in our lives.  Beloved, He wants us to remember how our soul prospers, with its ultimate destination with Him. This should move us to allow the Spirit to teach, cleanse, search and guide us.

“For I know the thoughts I think towards you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.”—Jeremiah 29:11

When your soul, will and plans line up with God’s purpose for your life, everything falls into place. Destiny and purpose come together.
