Gratefulness… The Key to a Joyful Heart!

The idea of gratefulness runs throughout the entire Bible. God calls us to find joy in blessings and joy in trials. This isn’t always easy, but your Godly Strength of gratefulness has allowed you to unlock its power in God’s Kingdom! Let’s take a deeper look into this amazing character God has bestowed upon you!

What does God say about gratefulness?…

Over and over God reminds, calls and instructs us to be grateful. He actually says to give thanks in ALL circumstances:

  • “Rejoice always, pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”─1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
  • “Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”Psalm 100:3-4

Why do you suppose God’s will is for us to rejoice, pray and give thanks? He knows we cannot do this apart from Him. Therefore, when we do His will, He gives us great delight in whatever we are going through. This closeness of relationship allows Him to flow into every part of our walk. How can we not give Him praise?!

Because of your gifting of gratefulness, you have embraced this aspect of God’s will. You understand that your close walk with Him leads to a grateful heart and attitude. Then, because of this joy, it overflows to others and they see the beauty in your life. God gives and He takes away. It is all for our good. Give praise for His faithfulness!

Gratefulness is not…

Be on guard for the enemy will tempt you to act in frustration when gratefulness is difficult. He wants to steal the joy that God has given you with this amazing gift. Pray for a hedge of protection as you walk in thanksgiving.

Gratefulness is not about finding joy only when things are going well. We can often give thanks when we experience God answering prayer the way we expected. However, we also need to give thanks when He answers differently, or is silent. As your strength grows, you will find more and more joy in all things.

Be encouraged…

God shows us many people in the Bible who exhibited gratefulness and praised His name during difficult times. David, Job, Paul, Peter… just to name a few. Be encouraged today, as you have been gifted in this way also!
