eagle prey

Job 39:27-30, a large and very powerful bird of prey, hence called the King of birds. There are several species of eagle described by naturalists, and it is probable that this word in the Bible comprehends more than one of these. The noble eastern species, called by Mr. Bruce “the golden eagle,” measures eight feet four inches from wing to wing; and from the tip of his tail to the point of his beak, when dead, four feet seven inches. Of all known birds, the eagle flies not only the highest, Proverbs 23:5 Jeremiah 49:16 Obadiah 1:4, but also with the greatest rapidity.

In a recent sermon, I compared the remnant’s current season to the eagle’s transformation into a Golden Eagle. This magnificent bird, goes through a time of great vulnerability where it lays outstretched on a rock, feathers removed and sunburned. If they make it through this period of molting, new golden feathers will eventually grow in place of the old. The eagle must have complete faith in Creator God to supply every need during this time. In Isaiah 40:31, the Word tells us, “ But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary.”

What is the cost?

Earlier, in Isaiah 40:25, God asks the question through His prophet Isaiah, “To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?” In other words, what areas of our lives does God truly play a part in? This isn’t just talking about areas that we are comfortable with, but in every aspect of our day-to-day lives. Is God number one in our thought life? Does He come first; or does our bank account, personal interests, or even our own children take the number one spot? While we know what the answer should be, it is much easier said than done… isn’t it? You need to know that when we put other things in the place of where God should be, these things steal our energy.

The enemy is after your thought life…

“Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; Not one is missing.”—Isaiah 40:26 We must ask ourselves… can we truly trust that Father God is the creator of all things? Take a moment and actually ponder the greatness of God. How often do we forget this and spiral into worry and fear? Isaiah is reminding us that we must relax and allow God to be God. We must take every thought captive, speaking life even amidst the most perilous circumstances. When we allow the enemy a voice in our thought life… actions will soon follow. If we are not able to maintain our hope in the Lord… doubt will take over and soon we will begin to second-guess what we have heard from our Father in Heaven. This creates a continuous cycle of stepping out in faith and returning to our old position of standing in fear. In this way, we will never move forward. We must remember that God is good and He is a God of love. When the enemy tells you that you will fail, choose to speak life into that area where he is lying to you. Speak the Word over those circumstances and allow God to go to battle for you!

Let’s be honest…

“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: ‘My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God’?”—Isaiah 40:27 Are you going through a time where you feel that God is not listening to you? A time when things are not going how you would like them to? Or worse, maybe you feel that the Lord heard you, but for some reason He is just ignoring you? When we are in this state it allows fear to creep in, but it says in the word, “My sheep hear My voice.” Fear moves Satan, but faith moves God! God created you to hear Him and to speak like Him. It is His desire that we speak like Him and think like Him. When we do these things our enemies will be scattered!

LEARN the POWER of FORGIVENESS!

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.”— Isaiah 40:28 When we watch the news broadcasts or read on Facebook the atrocities that are taking place, it is easy to forget who is really in charge. Although it may appear that God is no longer in control. He IS still on the throne! The time has come for the church to rise up… to awaken to the truth that their identity is in Adonai, and not in their church affiliations, or even their government!

It is okay to admit it…

Isaiah 40:29

When confronted with a seemingly insurmountable problem, is our first thought to ask God for guidance, or to hide in fear of failure?

“He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.”—Isaiah 40:29 As a Believer, sometimes it is difficult to admit that we are weak. I have to confess to you that I am not strong enough to carry the burden of my call alone… I just don’t have the strength for it. I must continually realize that He is the one who helps me to finish and finish strong. Only when we put our faith in His strength, and not our own, can we truly succeed!

The choice is ours!

“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall…”— Isaiah 40:30 We can spend the rest of our lives wrestling with our flesh, but until we are willing to truly walk in His strength, allowing Him to direct ALL of our life, the possibility for failure is imminent. The Lord is looking for a people who are willing to trade

their weakness in for His strength!

They shall walk and not faint.

“ But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary…”—Isaiah 40:31 God makes a promise in this scripture… that when we allow Him to take us through a deep season of pruning He will renew our strength! That we will not become a hawk, or a blue jay… No, He says we will be like the eagle. This is a bird that literally soars above the earth. Are you ready to soar? Are you willing to count the cost?
