Hear the Lion’s Roar and Walk in Your Assignment

Share with your family and friends:

October begins in the middle of Tishrei (the month of the Fall Feasts) and ends in Cheshvan. Spiritually, this creates an important transition, moving from the awakening into action, from receiving revelation to faithfully walking it out.

As we step further into 5787, I believe the Lord is calling us to listen for His voice, awaken to our identity, embrace our priesthood, and respond to our Kingdom assignments.

The Lion of Judah Is Roaring

One Scripture the Lord is highlighting for 5787 is Amos 3:8, “A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken! Who can but prophesy?”

The Lion of Judah is roaring over 5787. A lion’s roar carries for miles, declaring its presence, establishing territory, and warning every rival that another authority reigns. In the same way, I believe the Lord is releasing a sound in this season that is awakening His people to who they are, whose they are, and the authority they carry in Him.

In Tishrei, the sound of the shofar awakens and calls us out of spiritual complacency and fatigue and back into attentiveness to God’s presence.

But before we speak, decree, or declare, we must first listen.

  • What is the Lord saying?
  • Where is He asking you to align with Him?
  • What assignment is He placing before you?

Identity Before Assignment

To understand your assignment, you must know who you are and whose you are. You are first a son or daughter of the King. Through Yeshua, you have direct access to the Father and have been called into a royal priesthood.

This order matters. Sonship establishes identity. Priesthood develops intimacy. Kingship carries authority. And from that place, you fulfill your Kingdom assignment.

Your priesthood calls you into worship, prayer, intercession, service, and caring for those God has entrusted to you. Your kingship equips you to carry His authority into your home, workplace, community, and sphere of influence.

The sword in your mouth must first be His Word in your heart.

From Tishrei to Cheshvan

As October progresses, Tishrei gives way to Cheshvan, and the spiritual atmosphere shifts.

Tishrei holds three Feasts of the Lord where awakening, returning, and celebrating take place. Cheshvan, on the other hand, has no biblical feast—the trumpet quiets, the gatherings end, and daily life resumes. Now we ask, “What will I do with what God revealed?”

In October, shift from hearing His voice to obeying it, from being awakened to your identity to living from it, to receiving your assignment to stewarding it well.

Cheshvan is an invitation to embrace and mature in your priesthood.

Interestingly, rabbinic tradition records that approximately 40 years before the Temple’s destruction, signs associated with Yom Kippur changed, including the scarlet cord no longer turning white. For Believers, the timing points prophetically to Yeshua, our perfect sacrifice and eternal High Priest, and to a significant shift in priesthood.

Through Yeshua, we have direct access to the Father and are called to step into our priestly identity, to worship, intercede, serve, and carry His presence into the places He has assigned us. This is the invitation of Cheshvan: Don’t leave the revelation at the Feast. Walk it out. Embrace your priesthood, mature in it, and faithfully steward your Kingdom assignment.

Give Yourself Room to Grow

As you step into new assignments in 5787, remember this: New levels can feel unfamiliar.

Don’t assume that because God called you to something new, you must immediately be excellent at it. Don’t judge your calling by how you start. Understand, it takes time to learn. Practice and seek wisdom. Stay humble, and work as unto the Lord, and allow the Holy Spirit to mature you.

Don’t do the growing and learning alone. Surround yourself with people who are hungry for God—people who will pray with you, sharpen you, and encourage you to remain faithful to what He has spoken.

This October, prepare your heart, pray for clarity, and act on what you hear.

Embrace your identity. Embrace your priesthood. Walk in your Kingdom authority. And faithfully steward the assignment God has placed before you in 5787.
