Put on “One New Man”: Identity, Birthright, and Covenant Unity

Right now, the world is facing intense battles, but at their core, these struggles are not about politics or resources; they are about birthright and identity. The enemy knows that if believers unify, his plans are canceled.

So, how do we secure our identity and walk in the fullness of our spiritual birthright? The answer lies in understanding the biblical concept of the “One New Man” and the power of our spiritual roots.

Here is a breakdown of what the “One New Man” means for your faith, your family, and your future.

1. The Fatherless Fight vs. Covenant Unity

Have you ever noticed that division and church splits often stem from a deep-seated fear or a lack of understanding? There is a powerful principle at play: when you don’t understand who your father is, you fight.

• Orphans Fight: Throughout history—from Cain and Abel to Ishmael and Isaac—a lack of identity leads to conflict. When people lack a secure covenant identity, they fight.
• Sons Write: When you know your identity as a son or daughter of God, you don’t have to fight for scraps. Instead, you “write”—meaning you make contracts, build covenants, and establish peace.

You are not a victim, an orphan, or even just a servant; you are a son or daughter of the Most High God, complete with an inheritance and an identity.

2. What Is the “One New Man”?

The concept of the “One New Man” comes directly from Ephesians 2:11-22. The Apostle Paul explains that Jesus Messiah abolished the dividing wall of hostility between Jews and Gentiles.

By reconciling both groups to God in one body through the cross, Jesus created a single new humanity, inviting us to put on “One New Man” (Ephesians 4:24)

• This is the only true peace plan in the world.
• It is a supernatural event activated by the unity of Believers.
• When Jew and Gentile operate together as one, it manifests the glory of God and shows the unsaved world that God is real.

3. The Power of the Engrafted Branch

To truly understand your identity as a Gentile Believer, you must understand your family history. God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham, reaffirming it to Issac, Jacob, and King David. Jesus is the ultimate seed of that covenant, bringing total fulfillment when He rules and reigns from Israel on David’s throne as the long-awaited messianic King, making all things right and all things new.

In Romans 11, Paul warns Gentile Believers not to become arrogant, reminding them that they do not support the root, but the root supports them.

Think of it like grafting an olive tree:

• The Wild Branch (Gentiles): Wild olive trees produce large pits, very little oil, but a robust, peppery flavor.
• The Cultivated Tree (Israel’s Covenant): Cultivated trees produce smaller pits and abundant oil.
• The Miracle of Grafting: When you graft the wild branch into the cultivated root, you get the best of both worlds. The branch keeps its robust flavor but draws from the root to produce more oil.

You aren’t called to become Jewish; you have simply been grafted into the life-giving tree of God’s eternal covenant.

4. Circumcision of the Heart

In the Old Testament, physical circumcision was a sign that a family’s seed would produce after the covenant of Abraham rather than the curse of the Garden of Eden.

For Believers today, the focus is on the circumcision of the heart, which takes place through water baptism (immersion).

• Why does your heart need circumcising? Because out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
• Immersing yourself cuts off generational curses and the false identities spoken over you, allowing you to boldly speak the covenant of Abraham.

5. Your Free Will Determines Your Destiny

God did not create us to have a robotic relationship with Him. He gave us free will, and with that comes responsibility.

Just like Joshua and Caleb, who chose to see God’s promise instead of the obstacles, you have the power to choose whom you will serve. God will often ask you to step out in faith—whether that’s funding a mission or simply loving your neighbor—and the provision follows your “Yes, Lord”.

A Call to Action: Put on the New Man

The Spirit of God is calling us to wake up from spiritual slumber, break off counterfeit identities, and embrace our engrafted birthright.

Let us intentionally pursue unity, align with God’s covenant, and honor the spiritual roots that support us. As we walk together as the One New Man, we will see greater favor, the breaking of generational curses, and an outpouring of God’s glory to the nations.
