400+ Holocaust Survivors and their Basic Needs

Today, there are still numerous people living throughout Israel who survived the horrors of the Holocaust. Many of these survivors find themselves living alone without even the basics they need to properly take care of themselves.

We at Curt Landry Ministries have made it our mission to provide for as many of these brave men and women as we can—in physical, spiritual, and emotional ways.

By contributing to our efforts, you can help make a difference in the lives of countless Holocaust survivors still living in Israel in their later years.

We are currently assisting more than 400 Holocaust survivors in Jerusalem by providing for some of their most basic needs. For example, many of them live without hot and cold running water. They are often unable to get to their doctor’s appointments, or even to the grocery store. Simple acts of self-care that we might take for granted include hot meals, food for religious feasts and holidays, haircuts, and warm winter blankets.

Experts estimate there are about 180,000 Holocaust survivors still living in Israel today, and of those, at least 70,000 struggle to maintain their independence and meet their most basic needs.

This means 38 percent of Holocaust survivors in Israel need support.

Most of these people live in low-income apartments, which tend to be in dire need of maintenance and repair. This means that for many Holocaust survivors, life can be quite difficult and, in some cases, somewhat unsafe. For most, their families and communities were lost during World War II, and they are in great need of companionship.

We sponsor a variety of Holocaust survivor projects at Curt Landry Ministries. In one example, we had a team of plumbers and handymen volunteer their services, making repairs for many needy survivors who would be unable to afford them otherwise. We have also provided them with personal care needs, such as haircuts and home items. These are small but practical necessities that are greatly appreciated.

Many of these survivors do not have hot meals every day.

Teams of our volunteers have recently organized a hot meal program where they deliver hot meals right to the doorsteps of these beautiful survivors. This successful program always brings a big smile to their faces.
