Super Blue Blood Moon, Prophecy and Tu B’Shvat

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.”—Luke 21:25

What is a Super Blue Blood Moon?

A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth passes between the sun and the moon. This blocks the sun’s rays from reflecting off the moon as normal. However, some of the sun’s rays curve around the earth causing the moon to appear red during a total eclipse. Because of its vivid color, a total lunar eclipse is often referred to by NASA as a Blood Red Moon.

What is Tu B’Shvat?

The night of Tuesday, January 30th through Wednesday, January 31st marked the fifteenth day of the Jewish lunar month of Shevat. This begins the festival of Tu B’Shvat. Tu B’Shvat comes at a time of seasonal change in Israel. The winter rain subsides and trees and fruit begin a new life cycle.

Tu B’Shvat is referred to as the “birthday of trees” because this was a date for calculating the “birth” and age of a tree. Historically, the tree’s first fruit of the fourth year was taken to the Temple as an offering.

Super Blue Blood Moon and Tu B’Shvat come together—coincidence or together with supreme authority?

In Hebrew, there is not a single word for coincidence. The two words that are commonly used to refer to coincidence are tzeruf-miqrim, meaning ‘a combination of happenings.’

In Greek, coincidence is translated from the word synkyrian. It’s another two-word combination of the word sun—together with; and kurious—supreme in authority.

Understanding the Jewish roots of the faith helps you walk in greater knowledge and understanding, revealing more of God’s character, power, and plans. Perhaps a more accurate and biblical definition of coincidence is circumstances brought together by the divine and supreme authority of God.

Understanding this, you can see the significance of the lunar eclipse which took place last month occurring at the same time as Tu B’Shvat. There are no coincidences, only divine appointments.

Let us not be blind to the fact that there will be cosmic disturbances that precede the return of our Messiah.

Only our Father in Heaven knows the exact hour of Yeshua’s return. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only” (Matthew 24:36). However, He does tell us signs and wonders will occur leading up to Yeshua’s (Jesus’) return.

God uses heavenly signs to get our attention.

“…of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”—Matthew 24:29

Will your ears and eyes be sensitive to God’s call to join together and advance as One New Man?

The Lord tells us to, “Give ear and hear my voice, listen and hear my speech” (Isaiah 28:23).

The enemy wants to divide and distract, but God calls us to unite in Him, listening intently for His voice and direction.

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.”—Ephesians 2:14-16

This is not the time to separate and dispute over differences, but to come together and trust in our Mighty God. He wants us to be spiritually alert, understanding the enemy is prowling around like a lion, but when we are united in Him, He puts to death the enmity!
