Responsibility… Receive Your Reward!

Many things may come to mind when you hear the word responsibility. What is Biblical responsibility? Responsibility, loyalty, being steadfast and dependable are all Biblical virtues that come with great reward. Initially God gave us responsibility to harness the earth’s potential and create life. This Godly Strength was in God’s design from the beginning!

What does God say about responsibility?…

  • “And the Lord said, ‘Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.’” ─Luke 12:42-44
  • “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”1Corinthians 15:58
  • “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” –Colossians 3:23-24

These verses come with a promise… that you will be rewarded because of your faithfulness and responsibility! Knowing that your resurrected destiny is with Jesus Christ, work hard now, you will receive your portion. Labor in the Lord, under His direction, and you will be blessed!

Scripture tells us to diligently seek the Lord and He will show you your calling. When you are walking in His will He will multiply your gift of responsibility, and then joy and peace will overflow.

Responsibility is not…

One definition of responsibility is the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone. Biblical responsibility is different. We must be very careful that this gift does not flow over into control, but remains with pure intentions, to help those in need. While simultaneously remembering, God has bestowed this gift upon you, therefore ask Him to lead.

The enemy can also tempt you to back away from responsibility, especially when you haven’t received the outcome you wanted. Our human nature wants to blame others and shift the responsibility. Pray without ceasing that God helps you recognize the enemy’s ploys.

Be encouraged…

Because of your Godly character of responsibility, God says He will entrust you with much. God knows that with your gift you will greatly bless others and He promises to reward you in due time! Hold fast to God’s promises, even when times seem tough. He cannot lie, therefore trust His Word and know your work for the Lord will increase your faith and bless you in ways you cannot imagine!

Prayer…

We want to pray with you! We will pray that God shines His light on any situation where being responsible may not be easy. We’ll ask God to give you the strength and courage to step out in faith to help someone in need. Pray that God shows you areas where He wants you to grow in this Godly Strength, and guides you through with His own hand.
