A City Gate is a place where God chooses to assign spiritual authority to impact and address a city’s spiritual issues.
The City Gate of Texas
Texas, as one of the nation’s largest states with a high population of evangelicals, takes great honor in its political and spiritual views as they align with the Bible.
However, there is always an enemy prowling at the city gates, trying to find an opening through which to enter and cause chaos within communities.
This can leave Believers in a state of uncertainty. But in reality, there is a power God has given us that will protect us and fight the battles for us—in our minds, neighborhoods, and communities.
God’s authority and power rest at the city gate.
God’s Strategic Placement of Authority
The Lord does nothing out of aimless purpose. His Word fulfills and prospers in the thing for which it was sent.
“So shall My word be that goes froth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”—Isaiah 55:11
This verse tells us that when God sets up His Word and establishes His authority in a place, it will…
- Be for our good
- Protect us
- Fight our battles
- Fulfill His promises
- Equip and empower us
God’s pattern is to have a starting place where His Spirit hovers (Genesis 1). From that place, He decrees light to be released, life to flourish, and fruit to yield a harvest.
Nacogdoches was Texas’ starting point. It is considered the oldest town in Texas, founded in 1779. It’s no coincidence that God is releasing power from this City Gate.
As early as the 1700s, there were Christian missionaries present in Nacogdoches sharing God’s love with the Native Americans in the areas. Though trouble came from surrounding settlements, God’s assignment to the area was not stopped.
Today, Life Church in Nacogdoches has responded to the Lord’s call and is activating the power of the City Gate by retuning to the Lord’s timeline.
How Life Church Is Activating the Power of the City Gate in Nacogdoches
As the pastor of Life Church, Jeremiah Moss has seen miracles, signs, and wonders of God manifest in the church and in the community that have provoked a change of heart in many. People are attracted to the Lord, and Life Church has been a sweet aroma.
“For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.”—2 Corinthians 2:15
Life Church Has Done 3 Things to Activate the Power of the City Gate
1. Returned to the Lord, or Teshuva, and connected to their Jewish roots
The Hebrew word for repentance is teshuvah. It is translated as “returning.” The Jewish mindset for the word is that we are called to return to the path of righteousness. This is not to be mistaken for our own righteousness.
Instead, by confessing our offenses, understanding we are covered by the blood of the Lamb, forgiving those who have offended us, and asking for forgiveness ourselves, we are then cleansed and set on a path of righteousness.
In short, this is aligning your mind, will, emotions, and spirit with God’s heart. This isn’t a one-time act but a lifestyle of activation.
2. Claimed their identity
As they returned to the Lord and began to connect to the Jewish roots of the faith, their identity was released. God began revealing who they were as kings and priests, and how He had empowered them with His Spirit to accomplish His will. This has been manifested in signs and wonders within their congregation and community.
3. Observed the Feasts of the Lord
As a culmination of connecting to their Jewish roots and claiming their identity in Christ, they began observing the Feasts of the Lord. They embraced the moed, or appointed times, according to God’s calendar. During these divine appointments, they place their feet under their Father’s table and experience His presence.
This entire process has shifted the way they operate in the physical and the spiritual realms. As a result, the Lord has greatly blessed them and has used them in His Kingdom work.
New Projects and Upcoming Events
Pastor Moss and his congregation have recently been able to open a new facility, called Life Home, for displaced and abused women. They are excited and anticipate the Lord’s favor on this new endeavor.
Curt Landry will be on-site at Life Church on September 14 at 7:00 PM CT and September 15 at 10:00 AM CT. He will be speaking about the Jewish roots and decreeing and declaring your identity as kings and priests.
