Listen to God’s Instruction in Adar to Receive Identity and Purpose

Our timing is undoubtedly different than God’s. So, as we anticipate and wait for Him to move in a situation, He calls us to listen, obey, and bless.

  • Listen for His instructions and strategies; pray into them.
  • Obey by surrendering to His process of revelation.
  • Bless His holy name and others in His name.

Adar is the month we celebrate Purim, the story of Queen Esther obeying the instructions given to her, which became the catalyst for the Jewish people’s deliverance. All this to say, Esther listened to the instruction and stepped into her identity and purpose in God’s perfect timing.

Through Mordecai, God revealed the divine process of the freedom to come. As the story unfolded, God orchestrated the events that removed the wicked and established the righteous.

  • “Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness.”—Proverbs 25:5

God’s Instruction to Surrender

In God’s instruction is also a call to surrender. There is necessary tension in this place—obedience and surrender—because the Lord is calling us to walk closer to His heart. He invites us into His presence, to enter in and meet Him face-to-face—to go before the throne and ask Him for divine strategies, pray and speak into them, and then surrender the outcome at His feet.

Surrender is the daily “yes” we give to the Father. This positions us to receive more revelation about our identities and purpose in this month of divine timing.

God’s Instruction to Bless

Blessing others in the power and name of the Covenant-Keeping God brings unity. Without unity, doors are opened to the enemy, allowing him to come in, and he seeks to divide and disperse—just as Haman planned to do in the story of Esther. Obeying God’s instruction to bless Him and others preempts the enemy’s plans.

God’s Instruction to Be Holy

God instructs us to “be holy, for I am holy” (Leviticus 19:2, 20:7, 20:26, 21:8, Exodus 19:6, 1 Peter 1:16). We are to be set apart (sanctified/holy) for the Lord. Doubts and fears pollute our souls, leading us astray to worship idols and enter into agreements with vain imaginations.

This month, the Lord calls us to shut the door to doubts and fears and open the doors to holiness and separation unto Him.

Activate God’s Instruction

During Purim, it is Jewish custom to give gifts to the poor (see Esther 9:22) and those less fortunate. These gift bags are called Mishloach Moanot. The purpose is to increase friendship and unity, remembering Purim and God’s victory for the Jewish people when the Haman spirit seeks to divide and destroy.

Prayerfully consider activating God’s instruction this month, disarming the enemy, and standing together for Israel, sowing seeds of unity.
