Joyfulness… It’s Contagious!

Joyfulness is defined as “feeling, expressing or causing great pleasure or happiness.”  Do you have the gift of joyfulness? Sometimes it is difficult to be joyful in the midst of pain and sorrow, but with this Godly Strength, God has bestowed upon you the ability to see His hand at work in all things, counting all of it joy! What a powerful and uplifting strength!

What does God say about joyfulness?…

Joy is felt when we are anticipating and waiting for something great and wonderful. The amazing aspect of this Godly Strength is found in the midst of turmoil when you can be excited to see how God will work it all out for His glory and for your good!

  • “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”─Proverbs 17:22
  • “…Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory… ”─1 Peter 1:8
  • “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials…”─James 1:2
  • “… for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”─Nehemiah 8:10

A joyful heart can literally help you feel better, and it will overflow to others as they experience the joy, as well! What a powerful gift!

Peter writes about this kind of joy, knowing God is powerful and in control. Therefore, when we are grieved, we can rejoice in knowing that God will keep us protected in faith as He refines and tests us with fire. We are tested so that we can experience the joy God brings out of any trial.

Joyfulness is not…

This may be difficult to hear, but God never said He wanted us to just be happy. Though joy is often equated with the feeling of happiness, it reaches far beyond. Therefore, God wants us to be filled with joy… a lasting joy that only comes from Him.

Happiness is fleeting… but joy is continual. If you possess the Godly Strength of joy, you have committed your ways and trust your heart to God, knowing that He truly has your best interest in mind. When you wrap your mind around this concept, you invite in His Spirit, and that fills you with joy.

The power of this gift is that in suffering, you find God’s strength and tender love carry you through, and you are left with joy!

This magnificant gift─a gift that the world does not always understand─ breaks chains and heals hearts. Especially when exhibited through trials. This wonderful gift is in fact contagious. What a way to show God’s saving grace through your joyful heart!
