Here are some ways that you can help Israel:

• Stay informed. First and foremost, continue to stay up-to-date on the latest news surrounding Israel and conflicts between Israel and Palestinians. Follow stories in both American and Israeli media, including newspapers and television broadcasts. Knowledge and awareness is the first step to being able to make a difference.

• Educate others. Spread the word about the issues that people in Israel face every single day. Email and social media are great tools to help raise awareness about the plights of people in Israel right now. Educate your children as well. Talking about the current state of Israel can be a good way to supplement whatever form of religious education they are receiving, as it can add context to stories from scripture.

• Get political. Write letters and phone calls to representatives, senators, the president, ambassadors and anyone else who has a powerful voice in government. Tell them that they need to take more steps to help the people of Israel. The more people who approach political figures with these requests, the more likely they are to take them seriously. You can also reach out to newspapers and media and push for them to tell the stories of the people who are suffering in the violence and poverty of the Middle East.
