How to Seek God’s Will
In the series, Path of Life [Click Here], we have discussed how to find and activate your life’s path with God’s will. How do you seek God’s will for your life? Are you in constant communication with Him about your plans and His? This prayer pattern is important. God wants you to humbly come to Him with your plans and surrender to His will.
Yeshua (Jesus) demonstrated this in the Garden of Gethsemane…
- “And He said, ‘Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You ’”—Mark 14:36
Whose wisdom do you seek? The Holy Spirit’s power in our lives can do much more than we ask. Wisdom is knowing truth and then being able to apply what you know to your life.
- “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”—James 1:5
- “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”—Ephesians 3:20
Here are a few practical ways that you can seek God’s will for your life…
- Seek God’s wisdom. Get into the Word and allow God’s own voice to speak into your life.
- Check out your plans with Him. Tell God what your plans are, but also be sure ask Him, “What do you say about this LORD?”
- Surrender your will. Just as Jesus surrendered, you can surrender. When you surrender your plans to God, eagerly seek His plans. Have faith in God’s Word that He has all rule and authority.
- Be disciplined in your walk. The Holy Spirit lives within you, therefore He enables you to have love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. You have the authority to take control of your life. Jesus’ blood was shed so that you may have eternal life and possess the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Shout for joy! When the pressures of life get heavy we want to, in our own flesh, be angry and downcast. However, when you rejoice in God’s goodness, the weapons against you cannot stand.
- Allow yourself grace. While you are learning and God is preparing you for something greater, allow yourself grace. You will not be perfect; however, you are complete in Christ… and He, who began the good work in you, will indeed complete it.
The path of life to live successfully for God is to thank Him and know His mercies are new every day. Declare His truth over your life right now… and shout for joy!
