He Knows You

God, the CREATOR of ALL, has more things to do in a day than we could do in ten lifetimes. He can do anything and everything, and yet, He, the King of ALL, revels in the time we spend with Him.

That we should even be heard by our Creator is amazing in its own right, but He does not stop there. He listens AND speaks to us. He KNOWS us…

What Does it Mean to be Known by God?

Each of us, even those who have never known God, are known by Him. This knowing is far more than a mere list of names, heights, etc.; He knows every like, dislike, fear, joy, what sparks our imagination or anger… and infinitely more. He knows deeper, fuller, and richer, than anyone can begin to know themselves. And our hearts desire it…

Our hearts and souls desire to be known, to be seen and loved for everything we excel at… and in spite of everything we fail at. Often this desire is so strong that we seek being known, seen, and loved, in all the wrong places. For instance, as children, we may pretend to be different so that we are better liked by other children, by our parents, or even our peers. And, in many ways, we continue this pattern into adulthood.

We put on personas for different places or people. The ‘work persona,’ the ‘church persona,’ the ‘in-laws persona,’ the ‘teacher persona,’ the ‘tough persona’ …on and on we behave differently in different places and in different situations. While this is not always a bad thing, sometimes we end up hiding pieces of ourselves along the way. We show a pristine version of our lives, just as many do on social media, until we begin to either believe it, or hate it. Every success, pretty picture, cute story, and highlight is displayed, while every stumbling moment, every day of too little sleep and too many tasks, and every plan seemingly a shattered mess upon the floor—these we hide.

Yet, God sees a fuller and truer picture than ANYONE on earth can see—more than even we can see. And He STILL LOVES US! He could pick out more flaws than anyone, and still He loves us. He loves every highlight, shares in each joy, and when we stumble or kneel on the floor to pick up the broken pieces, He holds us to Himself and raises us up again. He knows us, loves us, and is always with us!

He knows what we are meant to do in ways we cannot fathom, because He created us—He is the author of our lives. He does not miss a thing. He knows every hair upon our heads, every scar and laugh line. And we are met with profound love.

“Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”—Matthew 10:27-31

He Knows YOU:

God sees us through the eyes of love. There is no detail too small, no heartbeat too swift. He sees it all, every aspect of us, and still manages to see us through the eyes of love.

In the Word we are told of a few people God knew intimately; He spoke to them, and they to Him, sharing relationship. Yet, when Jesus died on the cross and rose again to go to the right hand of the Father, well, a new level of relationship was opened up. God always knew the number of hairs upon our heads, He always knew our scars and laugh lines, but that precious Blood and Jesus’ continual intercession… they allowed the Holy Spirit to enter us. He allowed us to become His temples so that He might not only know us, but know us intimately.

He knows us. He knows me. He knows YOU!

He lives in YOU! In each and every one of us who grant Him permission—for He never trespasses into His temples, He waits for an invitation. He knows us.

We could repeat those words a thousand times and our souls could never tire of them. He knows us!

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me.”—Psalm 139:1

Living a Life Where You are Known by God:

God knows each of us on such an intimate, beautiful, loving level, that there is no one on earth who can fully grasp its intensity. Even knowing that God sent His Son Jesus to die horribly on the cross, face hell and the grave, before being returned to Him… even that only gives us the tiniest glimpse into the fullness of who He is and His love for us. His knowing of us.

God knows every detail of our lives. That is an unchanging fact no matter how far we may stray. Yet, when we offer a home to the Holy Spirit and seek God with all of our hearts… we gain relationship! We come to understand more and more with each passing day the fullness of what it means to be known by God.

If God knows us then He listens to us, just as the angels listen to us, harkening unto the Word of the Lord flowing from our lips. Yes, we can settle for realizing that God knows us deeper than any other, or we can know and EXPERIENCE it, with our minds, our hearts, our souls, and spirits.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”—James 1:5

To experience it, we realize in the DEPTH of our souls that God:

  • Listens
  • Cares
  • Loves
  • Corrects WITHOUT Condemnation
  • Answers Prayers
  • Desires Good for Us
  • Never Leaves Us
  • Has EVERYTHING Planned to the Tiniest Detail
  • Will Direct Our Paths
  • Will Prepare a Way for Us
  • Will Provide
  • Is Mighty to Save
  • Has Us in the Shadow of His Wing
  • AND AN INFINITE NUMBER OF OTHER BLESSINGS AND PROMISES

By cultivating a relationship with God, the fullness of His knowing us is revealed layer by layer. His light shines into our hearts, burning up the dross, and leaving peace, love, joy, and all the fruit of the Spirit.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”—Galatians 5:22-23

Conclusion:

When we call upon the name of the Lord and allow Him into our temples, we come to not only KNOW that God knows us, but come to EXPERIENCE it. Relationship allows the knowing and the blessings that come with that to open up in new ways, restoring life and joy as we discover Him. His knowing never changes, only the fullness in which it is felt by, and made manifest, to us.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”—Matthew 7:7

We are known by God. He listens, He loves, and He never leaves. HE KNOWS YOU!

Let us, this day, and every day to come, seek out moments to speak to God, ask Him for relationship, look to His face and love Him in our own way. Let us bless those around us, coming to know our Father as we bless His children. Let us rest in the knowledge that God knows us, not doubting His faithfulness.

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”—Luke 6:38

He is a good God—a loving Father. He delights in blessing His children in great measure.

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”—Matthew 7:11

He knows you.
