Experiencing Prophetic Dreams | Ask and You Shall Receive!

The Bible is clear that there would be an increase in dreams and visions in the last days. These prophetic dreams and visions have a purpose. They are…

  • To be signs of the last days
  • To give us an understanding of the times we are in
  • To give us encouragement and direction
  • To share with others who would listen and take heed

Acts 2 begins with the coming of the Holy Spirit.

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

—Acts 2:1-4

Can you imagine what this experience was like?

Those who heard the Believers speak in tongues understood that it was a declaration of the wonderful works of God (see Acts 2:11). But they also genuinely inquired what this meant (see Acts 2:12).

Ask the Lord To Reveal His Will through Prophetic Dreams

If you have had prophetic dreams, it’s important to ask the Lord about them. Ask Him what He is revealing to you, what He wants you to KNOW, SEE, and FEEL.

There are a number of passages in the Bible that remind us to inquire of the Lord. So often, God gives us a gift, a vision, or a prophetic dream, and we can run forward without taking it to Him first. We must be careful not to let go of His hand after He has handed us a gift.

Second Samuel 2:1 (below) reminds us to ask the Lord to reveal His will so that we can be in the middle of His plan. This is key to the success and understanding of prophetic dreams. God is faithful to answer when we inquire.

“It happened after this that David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah?’ And the Lord said to him, ‘Go up.’ David said, ‘Where shall I go up?’ And He said, ‘To Hebron.’”

Examine God’s Word

In Acts 2, when everyone in Jerusalem was confused about what they saw and heard on the day of Pentecost, Peter stood and pointed them back to the prophet Joel’s words…

“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’”

—Acts 2:16-21

The focus on God’s Word—in this case, an Old Testament prophet’s words—did not quench the fire and move of the Holy Spirit, but instead fulfilled what He wanted to do. Every sign, wonder, prophetic dream, and moment of speaking in tongues was preparation for the move of God—and still is! The studying and examining of God’s Word go hand-in-hand with the move of the Holy Spirit.

Ask for Prophetic Dreams

Recently, Rabbi Curt Landry explained a prophetic dream he had (see below). The Lord told him, “Ask. You have not because you have not asked.” In other words, the Lord is speaking to His children. He is asking us to ask Him for a release of prophetic dreams in this hour!

He is using James 4:3 to speak to us…

“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

He is also using 1 Samuel 28 to reveal how we can reset our spiritual clocks.

In 1 Samuel 28, Saul was afraid as he saw the Philistine army. He was losing his courage, and now after the death of Samuel, his courage was nearly gone. He inquired of the Lord but became frustrated because God was silent. He hoped God would speak to him through prophetic dreams, but He was silent.

So, what did he do? He consulted a spirit medium. Saul was in a sad place. He was tormented. Miraculously, God presented Samuel to Saul…

“Now Samuel said to Saul, ‘Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?’ And Saul answered, ‘I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may reveal to me what I should do.’”

—1 Samuel 28:15

The point Rabbi Curt Landry makes using these two passages is this (click on the video below to hear more):

  1. We can boldly approach the throne of grace and ask the Lord to release prophetic dreams in this hour.
  1. During times of distrust, when we are not aligned with the Lord, we can humbly come before the Lord and repent, asking God to restore prophetic dreams and ask what we should do.

If you are losing your battles, if you feel far from the Lord, draw near to the Lord, ask for His prophetic dreams. If you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you.

Rabbi Curt Landry’s Prophetic Dream

“The Lord told me that we are to ask for prophetic dreams to be released. I want to share with you what happened as I was praying.

“The Lord took me into the spirit, into a dream room in the Courts of Heaven. The floors were white marbled. There were large pearl pillars and shelves along the walls. On these shelves were vials like you would see in a laboratory. These vials were filled with translucent liquid of varying colors. There were thousands of these vials. It was spectacular; no words could describe it.

“The glory of God was shining through them, like a light, and it was totally supernatural. I asked the Lord, ‘What am I looking at?’ He said to me, ‘These are spiritual, prophetic dreams.’ I said, ‘Lord, there are so many.’ The Lord said, ‘Many have not been poured out yet. It hasn’t been the time to pour them out. Many of them belonged to those who passed away, and these dreams are left behind. They are unclaimed.’

“The Lord said He would send out special messenger angels two by two at a strategic time when someone is most ready to receive them. The vials were dreams, and they would be poured out.”

Pray…

Follow along with the video above, or use the prayer below to reclaim a prophetic dream that the Lord is about to pour out…

“Father God in Yeshua’s name, I enter into the dream room in Your heavenly courts. I ask that the angels write down my name as one who is requesting to reclaim one of these spiritual, prophetic dreams. Lord, let it be recorded. Give me strategies on how to understand these prophetic dreams.

“Lord, most of all, I ask that I experience You, Your great love, Your comfort. You are my Father, and You heal my soul and body. I thank You for what You are doing in this hour. In Yeshua’s name, amen and amen!”
