How Does Prophecy Come to Pass?

Prophecies come to pass, as the Lord uses all of us to move mountains and nations into place. We are His hands and feet.

Would you believe we are living in a time when prophecy is being fulfilled? There have been prophecies made for thousands of years about the land of Israel and her people. A significant number of these prophecies have come to fruition and, as time passes, they seem to have gained momentum and even more are unfolding before our eyes. God is restoring the once barren desert to its blossoming destiny.

“You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; you have put all things under his feet…”—Psalm 8:6

The psalmist understood the decree given to Adam and future generations at the time of creation. Because God proclaimed man’s dominion and authority over the earth’s creatures and its resources, His intention is for us to partner with Him and subdue the land.

As part of our God-ordained authority, we are responsible for being wise stewards and preserve the land in ways that are honorable and glorifying to God. We aren’t to ignore desolate land, but to bring it to its fullness.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.”—Psalm 24:1

Recently, Curt Landry sat down with Doug Hershey to take a closer look at Hershey’s recently published coffee table book and to discuss the importance of Israel’s 70th anniversary.

Hershey’s inspiration came out of the book of Ezekiel. The prophet in the Old Testament assures Israel of a homecoming. Despite the fact of Israel’s history of dispersions, there was an establishment in 1948 of the modern nation. Here we are, 70 years later, witnessing events that were foretold by the ancient prophets of God.

First, let’s take a look at the significance of the number 70. Without the appreciation of this number, the events of this year could just be considered a coincidence.

The number 70, made up of two significant numbers:

  • Seven represents perfection
  • Ten represents completion

These two numbers together show spiritual order and power.

What does Ezekiel 36 mean?

God tells the prophet of Ezekiel to prophesy to the mountains. God is decreeing His Word of restoration to the land. This Holy Land is precious to God. This unique tapestry of the land reveals God’s power and majesty.

The following is what Ezekiel decrees over the land:

“…therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! Thus says the Lord God to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the valleys, the desolate wastes, and the cities that have been forsaken… ‘But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My people Israel, for they are about to come. For indeed I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown. I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt.  I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bear young; I will make you inhabited as in former times, and do better for you than at your beginnings. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, My people Israel; they shall take possession of you, and you shall be their inheritance; no more shall you bereave them of children.’”—Ezekiel 36:4, 8-12

This book, which you receive when you sponsor an olive tree in Israel, uncovers the mystery of how prophecy fulfillment looks. You see exactly how this prophecy is being released over the soil, just as God said it would!

How is the number 70 connected to Israel?

  • For 70 years Israel was captive in Babylon
  • Those in Jerusalem during Babylonian captivity kept 70 years of Sabbaths
  • Moses took 70 elders with him up Mount Sinai after reading God’s covenant to His people
  • Joseph—after being sold to Egyptians by his brothers then rising to power—brought his 70 family members into the region years later. These 70 members started a nation that would grow to millions before their exodus out of the land.

These are only a few of the presentations of 70 throughout the Bible.

Israel is about to celebrate her 70th anniversary. Let’s look at the tremendous spiritual order that has come into play so far in 5778:

  • United States’ President Donald J. Trump has announced that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, and will move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
  • The land is blossoming and abundantly responding to the alignment of Israel’s return since 1948.
  • The King’s Valley is producing olives that are ready for harvest this year, for the first time in thousands of years. This special prophetic oil will be made available for purchase soon!

Author, Doug Hershey explained his love for history and his visit to the old shops in Jerusalem when he purchased black and white photos from 1880-1940. He then went back to the exact locations depicted in those images and took photo shots of the land today.

His book beautifully lays out the enormity of contrast since Israel’s statehood. The dry, barren land has become lush and green. One photo, in particular, illustrates the sovereignty of the ground by the contrasting barren mountain in Syria as a backdrop to Israel’s lush landscape.

Israel Rising: Ancient Prophecy Modern Lens, The Land of Israel Reawakens also contains quotes from every century for the last 2,000 years that reflect what the land looked like and about the people. These quotes within the book consist of Christian, Jewish and Muslim observations.

Hershey tells of one memorable quote from a Muslim writer who complains about how the mosque in Jerusalem is empty of worshipers, and the majority of the people living in the land are Jewish.

We would love to give you this book as a ‘thank you’ for your olive tree sponsorship, as well as a remembrance. Remember what God promises, what He can do, and the blessings of His alignment.

“I will bless those who bless you [Israel]…”—Genesis 12:3

If God stands by His Word to make the desert bloom and the mountains bear fruit, He will undoubtedly stand by His promise to bless you when you become covenant partners in His restoration plan. Will you join us in fulfilling this biblical prophecy?
