Diligence… A Mighty Gift

The Bible has a lot to say about diligence. What does it mean to have Biblical diligence? What should we, as Believers, be diligent about? How does God respond to your diligence? If you have been gifted in diligence you possess the ability to have a vision and goal, and work to accomplish it with your best efforts. Praise God for this mighty gift!

You may have heard others describe you as responsible, hardworking, disciplined, or even reliable. These are all great qualities that the gift of diligence encompasses. Your Godly Strength has allowed you to serve the LORD today, not waiting till tomorrow to get started. What an amazing quality for His Kingdom!

What does God say about diligence?…

• “The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.”—Proverbs 13:4
• “The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, but diligence is man’s precious possession.”—Proverbs 12:27
• “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”—Ecclesiastes 9:10

The LORD promises great riches… true riches, at the arm of diligence. In the Proverbs, the words point out that when you do nothing, you get nothing. However, your soul will be rewarded when you are diligent, both now and in the future!

God also instructs us to use our gift of diligence in an intentional and mighty way. No matter if your calling seems great or small, God sees it as wonderful and an important part of building His Kingdom. For this reason, He asks us to give all we have, “doing it with our might,” because it is important and pleasing to Him.

What diligence is not…

Diligence is not a prideful attempt to win approval from man or from God. It is not about our own efforts to obtain affirmation or praise. Being diligent has nothing to do with our salvation. The moment we put our trust in Yeshua the Messiah, our names were written in the Book of Life, our salvation was secured. God desires that our diligence come from a place of love for Him, His Kingdom and others.
