Breaking Off the Spirit of Distrust

Many of you battle generational curses that cause distrust in relationships—divorce, family issues, abuse, illnesses, emotional rejection and hurt. The common denominator of these issues is the spirit of distrust.

You need to be delivered. Your children need to be delivered. And your children’s children need to be delivered.

It’s time to claim the victory of Jesus in the Courts of Heaven over the spirit of distrust. It wants to steal your blessings, but the good news is that Jesus came to reverse the curse!

Ask the Lord Where the Spirit of Distrust is Entering In

Have you asked the Spirit to reveal to you the areas where generational curses have entered into your family line? If not, click here to help you identify those areas.

As you walk with the Holy Spirit through this breakthrough process, many of you will discover that you have been operating out of a spirit of distrust for years.

Once you start pinning down the spirit of distrust, cleanse it out of your soul—that is your mind, will, and emotions—so that you can walk in complete trust of the Lord and receive all He has for you.

Ask the Lord where the distrust came from, and keep coming out of agreement with it until you experience the breakthrough.

Enter the Courts of Heaven to Break Off the Spirit of Distrust

God wants you to enter into His courts with prayer and thanksgiving, knowing that you have the authority to break off the spirit of distrust.

Put on the full armor of God as you enter the heavenly courts…

“Father God, right now, we go into the room of redemption and cleanse ourselves in the blood of Jesus. We cover ourselves—from the top of our heads to the bottom of our feet—in Your redeeming blood. We thank You for the belt of truth. Let everything we speak be in alignment with Your Word, not man’s opinion. Your Word is the spirit of life.

“We put on the shoes of peace, asking that where our feet tread, You will give us every place, according to Your loving kindness. We put on the ephod, the breastplate of righteousness, and decree our righteousness and authority come from You. Messiah, You are our hope and glory.

“We put on the helmet of salvation and take up the shield of faith that quenches every fiery dart from the enemy. We take the sword of the Spirit into Your war room court, decreeing and breaking every generational curse of the spirit of distrust.”

Put God into remembrance of His Word…

“Father God, we come to You, put You into remembrance of Your Word, according to Isaiah 43:26. Let us contend together. Let the spirit of distrust be uprooted and torn down. Lord God, we ask that it not just be removed from the spirit but cleansed from our minds. We ask that it is erased from our memories. We trust in the mighty name of Yeshua.”

Psalm 20 verses are written below, with an accompanying prayer for each verse. Use this as a guide as you put the Lord into remembrance of His Word. Call upon His name in the Courts of Heaven.

Psalm 20:1

  • “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you;”

Pray…

“Lord, we thank You in advance that You answer and deliver us from the spirit of distrust. Lord, let us be set safely on the mountain of the Lord in the Courts of Heaven as we do battle with You—side by side.”

Psalm 20:2

  • “May He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion;”

Pray…

“May supernatural help be sent from the sanctuary of the war room of Heaven. Thank You, Lord, that we bless and stand with Israel. We are witnesses to Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria. Thank You, Lord, for granting us spiritual authority through Yeshua. Let us put on our mantles of power and trust in You.”

Psalm 20:3

  • “May he remember every gift you have given him and celebrate every sacrifice of love you have shown him.” (TPT)

Pray…

“Father God, we lift up each seed we have sown, whether it be alms, firstfruits, tithes, or offerings. Thank You, Lord, for the gifts You give us. Let them be remembered in the war room today. Let the angel of the Lord move into the accounting room in the courts and bring forth the record for each of us so that the accuser of the brethren can see that we are not God robbers. Instead, we are God blessers. Let the account be given.”

Psalm 20:4

  • “May Yahweh give you every desire of your heart and carry out your every plan as you go to battle.” (TPT)

Pray…

“Lord, we praise You today as You remove every fiery dart from our backs. We see the darts, and we remove the darts and spirit of distrust and betrayal that have come from broken relationships, broken hearts, abuse, rejection, and illnesses. Heal our memories and cleanse us that we might trust once again, in Yeshua’s name.”

Psalm 20:6

  • “Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.”

Pray…

“We are anointed as kings and priests, according to the order of Melchizedek. Lord, thank You for anointing us to trust once again. Our deliverance cry will be heard in the holy courts of Heaven and be recorded in the war room that Your might and miracles will manifest through Your saving strength. Lord, we ask that You heal the hearts of those who have been broken by the spirit of distrust in Yeshua’s name. We receive Your supernatural strength.”

Pray…

“Give us victory, oh King and Creator of the Universe. This day we call on You to give us an answer. Let Your answer be recorded in the war room of Heaven. We ask and receive the answer, decreeing and declaring that we are free from the spirit of distrust, in Yeshua’s name, amen and amen!

The Takeaway

Don’t let the spirit of distrust rob you of what God wants to do through you. When you trust in the Lord, you can trust that whatever situation you are in, the people He places in your path, and the healing He is doing in your past will work together for your good.
Whatever pain and hurt you are walking in today, give it to the Lord and allow Him to break off the heavy burden of distrust, completely healing you. Trust that He will indeed use your trials and testing to shape your character so that you can fulfill your purpose in the next season.
