Travail to Triumph | God’s Secret Weapons to Prepare Spiritually for the Eclipse

The Great American Eclipse is quickly approaching. With just days away, how do we prepare spiritually for the eclipse? God’s Word and Holy Spirit help us prepare spiritually for what is coming to the United States.

Remember, the Father-Heart of God protects, equips, and empowers us to be courageous, fear not, and hold fast to His promises. Let these truths anchor your soul as you prepare spiritually for the eclipse on April 8, 2024.

Prophetic Warnings and Significance of the Eclipse

See the prophetic signs in the skies.

We can’t ignore God’s signs. Signs point to what is coming and where we are going. Luke 21:25 says, “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring…” (emphasis added)

Genesis 1 describes God placing the lights in the sky, dividing day and night—light from darkness. Genesis 1:14 says, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years…” (emphasis added). God speaks to us through these signs. And when God speaks, we can’t ignore what He says.

Understand the sign’s significance.

Yes, the lights in the heavens are a sign, but they aren’t intended to bring fear. We also shouldn’t read more into them than what has been revealed. The scripture says that we prophesy in part and look through a glass dimly (1 Corinthians 13:9). Don’t ignore or fear them; instead, look at them through a biblical lens as God intended—as a call to return to Him

This tension between acknowledging the signs and seeing them through God’s eyes is, in part, why Yeshua Ha’Machiach—Jesus the Messiah—told His disciples, “Let not your hearts be troubled.” He knew trials would come our way but wanted us to see the signs of what was coming and know what to do, not to set off a siren that brings fear.

Make a proclamation today.

How do we move into this tension according to God’s intention? We proclaim together in unity under the blood of the Lamb…

  • “I will not ignore the signs. I will turn my heart to God. Lord, I want to encounter You and receive the covenant promises You have made to me in Your Word. I trust You!”

How to Prepare Spiritually for the Eclipse

As mentioned, you need to anchor yourself in and trust the Father-Heart of God during this time of preparation. He promises to protect, equip, and empower you as you seek His face and seek Him as your refuge.

A verse to remember as you prepare is Esther 4:14: “Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” God placed you in this time period for a purpose. As you prepare spiritually for the eclipse, remember that you can unlock your Kingdom destiny through the blood of Yeshua! Your Kingdom destiny isn’t just about you. It also involves interceding and praying for others—your family, your community, and your nation—so others can unlock their Kingdom destinies.

The key to unlocking the double doors to your purpose this season is to encounter the Father-Heart of God by understanding His intent for all creation—to be reconciled and redeemed. Spend a moment in prayer and thank Him for what He is doing this season and His continual renewal and revival in your spirit!

Our heart is that you spend time in prayer and fasting in the days leading up to the eclipse, seeking God’s face and asking the Spirit to release biblical wisdom so that you can wield God’s secret weapons for a breakthrough.

3 Weapons That Provide Breakthrough & Bring Peace

These secret weapons of God allow you to step into His presence as you prepare spiritually for the eclipse and encounter His heart in a new and fresh way. These “secret” weapons are not secret to those who know Him and go to His Word for guidance. But they will release supernatural power into the atmosphere and will seem “secret” to those who don’t know Him but witness His might and power in the coming season.

Weapon 1: Prayer

Tune out distractions and get quiet before the Lord in prayer to prepare spiritually for the eclipse. Join others in prayer, too. Coming together in unity as a sacred assembly strengthens us as we weather the storm together and receive all God wants to release in the coming days.

If the heavenly lights are signs, and God is speaking, you need to recognize and tune out distractions that pull you away from your purpose and tune into His prophetic words at this time.

Proverbs 4:24-27 says, “Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil.”

Be intentional as you pray, ponder your ways, and ask Him to establish His plan for you this season

Weapon 2: Repentance

Repentance is essential as you prepare spiritually for the eclipse or desire a breakthrough. Repentance breaks the chains the enemy uses to hold you back and brings you into agreement with the Word and the Father-Heart of God. Humble yourself and repent for the nation’s sins. Any law or principle established in the land that has gone against God’s perfect will and Word must be turned over to Him.

If we want our lands healed, consider the sign of the eclipse a call to repent.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “… if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

When we repent, God promises to hear our cries from Heaven. With this promise, we must also stay anchored to the truth that He is a good Father who protects and equips His people.

Weapon 3: Fasting

Consider fasting, withholding something physical to gain something spiritual.

If you stand in God’s Word, you know our nation is morally plummeting and are moved to mourning. The prophet Joel had words for the priests of his time. He called the priests—which speaks to us in this hour (see Revelation 1:5-6)—to prepare to do the work of repentance and consecrate a fast. Fasting cleanses your soul and opens your mind and heart to know and hear what God is speaking.

Joel 1:13, 14 says, “Gird yourselves and lament, you priests; wail, you who minister before the altar; come, lie all night in sackcloth, you who minister to my God… Consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.”

The Father wants us to remove distractions, come together in unity and sacred assembly, repent, and step away from fleshly desires to step into a spiritual breakthrough for this nation. Fasting is one way these weapons culminate to release peace where there is chaos and unrest.

As we fast, let us ask the Lord for mercy and to relent from harsh judgment, in Yeshua’s name. Let us cry out to Him and trust our covenant-keeping God to respond in mercy. Let us claim the promises of Psalm 91 as we step under His wing for refuge and protection.

Finally, remember you are not given a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Repent of any fear and surrender every situation that comes to mind to God. He cares for you and wants you to cast any burdens on Him (1 Peter 5:7).

The Takeaway

God gave us signs in the heavens to point to what is coming and where we are going. These signs are not to bring a spirit of fear but to prompt us to come together in unity under the blood of Jesus and repent for our nation. Let’s get serious and intentional in the days ahead and take His Word to heart.

Meditate on these words in Jonah 3:5-10.

“So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. The word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, ‘Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry out mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish?’ Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.”

What outcome and breakthrough would we experience if we took God at His Word? As for you and your house, decide today to worship and serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Joshua 24:15).
