Yom HaZikaron 2026 | Remembering Those Who Have Fallen

Share with your family and friends:

As Yom HaZikaron 2026 begins (April 20 – April 21, 2026), we remember the Israeli soldiers who have fallen in the protection of the nation of Israel and the civilian victims of terrorism. We proclaim Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

What Is Yom HaZikaron?

Yom HaZikaron means “Remembrance Day.” It is a national holiday that honors fallen soldiers and those who lost their lives defending the State of Israel.

Not all heroes are soldiers. Some heroes in Israel are those who choose to live with a Zionist heart—living in such a way that aligns with God’s promise that their nation has a right to exist. Since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Zionism has been an effort to protect the Jewish nation.

Many civilians who were victims of terror on October 7, 2023, lived in border towns knowing the risk, but lived there with courage and hope for peace, embodying the truth that the Promised Land is promised to them.

How We Honor | Reclaim, Restore, Remember

When we sow seeds of hope, when we pray, when we respond to urgent needs on the ground with generosity and grace, we reaffirm that Israel is not alone–that those who have fallen have not fallen in vain.

God’s covenant, everlasting and unchanging, is still testifying to His Kingship and character even while the world mocks, misunderstands, and turns away. God’s promises remain–and your support and solidarity proclaim to those who need to hear it most, “You are not forgotten.”

How You Honor By Preserving Life | Providing Shelters

One of the greatest needs in Israel is bomb shelters. The Iron Dome (Israel’s interception system) does intercept missiles and save lives, but the fragments from the missiles still break apart, sending debris over wide areas, increasing the risk to those who do not have adequate shelter.

We have been honored to facilitate the delivery of bomb shelters during this critical hour, but the need remains urgent. Sam, our boots-on-the-ground in Israel, shares how he has experienced the fear and the security of these shelters firsthand, since the war started:

“Last week was incredibly intense and demanding for our team on the ground in Israel as we continue our war relief efforts for civilians living in public shelters… Throughout the day, multiple sirens sounded. When a siren goes off in Israel, you often have only a few minutes to find shelter.

“At one point, I was near the entrance to Ma’ale Adumim and quickly entered the bomb shelter that Curt Landry Ministries supporters provided. Several others joined me, including Brenda, the Deputy Mayor and City Council Member of Ma’ale Adumim.

“Brenda shared that several impacts have already occurred in Ma’ale Adumim, and she is certain that the bomb shelter has already saved lives. Standing inside it during the siren, I personally felt the same sense of security it provides…

“Right now, no one knows how long this war will continue. It could last many more weeks, and the needs on the ground continue to grow daily.

“Placing another bomb shelter in this vulnerable location is both urgent and necessary.

“At the same time, we continue to provide food, essential supplies, and support to civilians living under constant threat…”

Parents, children, the elderly, soldiers–all finding tangible shelter when they need it most. God says He is the shelter of His people–their refuge (Psalm 91:1-2). Bomb shelters are a lifesaving covering–a tangible reminder for Israelis that the God of Israel sees them and covers them.

For all who have lost their lives in war, we honor their sacrifice by preserving life in Israel. By blessing the land and people. By being Yeshua’s hands and feet in His rescue mission to redeem and restore.

The Statement Those Who Died Made with Their Lives

Those whose lives are taken in defense of Israel—soldiers and civilians—are people of the covenant. They know the area they live in isn’t just any place, but one that speaks to their mission and to God’s promise.

In Israel, everyone is called to defend—civilian or soldier, city-dweller or kibbutznik (a resident of a kibbutz). They know their enemies surround them, and they must come together as a nation to protect what God has given them.

How Do We Honor Their Legacies?

  • We release restoration through prayers and support.
  • We honor them on this significant day, Yom HaZikaron 2026.
  • We love in a way that reflects the Father-Heart of God.
  • We remember and pause, proclaiming, “You are not forgotten.”

May their memory be a blessing!
