Shavuot is the harvest feast where we are called to remember the giving of the Torah to Moses on Mt. Sinai—the gift of God-given instruction. In a sense, it is the birthday of the Torah and the birth of a Nation wholly committed to serving the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob after being freed from Egypt. Pentecost took place on Shavuot roughly 1400 years after the giving of the Torah. Oftentimes referred to as the birthday of the Church, Pentecost is held in honor of the Holy Spirit falling upon the 120 in the Upper Room with tongues of fire.

shavuot 5775: The Year to Recover All!It is very interesting that Shavuot is considered a “Shalosh Regalim”—one of the three pilgrim feasts where the Israelites journeyed to Jerusalem as they were commanded to do in the Torah. And it was in Jerusalem, at Shavuot, when the Holy Spirit came with an impartation of tongues of fire. You see, the 120 in the Upper Room had followed the God-given instruction of the Torah to be in Jerusalem, and it was there where they were met by the Holy Spirit for an infilling. Following God’s instruction brings spiritual and physical harvest because obedience places us in the right place at the right time. Following God’s instructions positions us to be blessed! Think about it for a moment: traveling to Jerusalem was expensive. Three trips a year was inconvenient. Bringing an offering to the Lord was costly. But because of obedience to instruction, God-fearing Jews from every Nation under heaven were in Jerusalem for Shavuot, and became a witness to the infilling of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2). Their obedience was a physical act, resulting in a spiritual shift!

PARTNER with Curt Landry Ministries this SHAVUOT!

Generation after generation had journeyed to Jerusalem, and yet it was on a very special Shavuot that the Spirit of the Lord poured out and changed history. Sometimes we have to follow the steps the Lord has given to us for years without seeing our grand result—but it will come, and it is well worth it! You and I have a special opportunity to follow instruction and be blessed! When Biblical instruction and the Holy Spirit come together in agreement there is always a birthing of direction for your life with supernatural power. It is like heaven on earth—a pleasant offering unto the Lord. “Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to the Lord, as in the days of old, as in former years.”—Malachi 3:4shavuot 5775: The Year to Recover All!
