God’s Point of View

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”—Psalm 32:8

This is a powerful prophetic word David spoke over God’s people. God wanted His people then, and us now, to seek Him and yield to His instruction. He will guide us in the ways that we should go for our best interest.

When we focus on the negatives in our lives, these tend to multiply in our minds. We talk and think ourselves into a path of destruction. God, however, asks us to focus on Him. He invests time into us through His teaching and guidance. This takes us down a path of hope and peace.

Too often, we do not like the thought of receiving “instruction.” We think, in our human minds, that it will be unpleasant… which means it is not good. However, this is contrary to God’s point of view. When He instructs, and disciplines us, He says this is because He loves us.

“Endure hardship as discipline, God is treating you as sons… God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in His holiness.”—Hebrews 12:7, 10

Loving parents do not let their child do as he or she pleases. A parent knows the child cannot understand unforeseen dangers; therefore the parent guides and teaches the child in what to do in certain situations. This is a physical mirror image of how our Heavenly Father parents us spiritually.

Instruction is God’s way of bringing us closer to Him, finding joy and peace in our inheritance as sons and daughters. In Hebrew, instruction means law. The Scriptures say that God will write the law in our hearts and minds. We must have self-discipline in order to refocus our thoughts on the Word so that we can understand it, and also so God’s will is revealed to us.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth; but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success.”—Joshua 1:8

Walking closely with God and meditating on His Word will guide you. He will give you an ever so slight nudge and you will know the direction you should go. He promises to go before you and give you His vision with His eye—from His perspective.

Asking God to give you His vision for your life will open spiritual doors that you cannot begin to imagine. God’s wisdom will come over you, helping you discern His direction… and He promises to bless you!

This may not be a blessing as the world would describe it, but a freedom from the bondage of hurt, anxiety, fear, defeat or feelings of worthlessness. Only God’s power can break such strongholds. Allow His power and love to rush over you as you meditate on His Word.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”—Hebrews 4:12
