God’s Guarantee

What are the promises of God?

In today’s culture, broken promises have become something we have become accustomed to. Fear, doubt, disappointment, and bitterness oftentimes replace the hope you once had. The Light of Truth that rested upon your soul has been pushed aside by the dense darkness that fills your mind. You are told God’s promises come with a guarantee, but your situation leaves you questioning, just as Abraham questioned God about his inheritance when he saw no sight of the Promised Land before him.

“Lord God, how shall I know that I will inherit it?”—Genesis 15:8

Abraham wanted a guarantee. God used the power of covenant to complete the inheritance transaction. The Lord gives this same guarantee to us today. When we are in covenant with the Almighty God, His promises are binding, never to be broken.

 God’s Promises in the Bible

  • “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’”—Isaiah 41:13
  • “When you pass through the waters, I will bewith you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.—Isaiah 43:2
  • “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”—Psalm 50:15
  • “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew theirstrength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”—Isaiah 40:31
  • “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”—Exodus 14:14
  • “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”—John 8:36
  • “There istherefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”—Romans 8:1
  • “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under”—Romans 6:14
  • “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’”—Genesis 1:26

These are a modest number of the endless promises the Lord gives us! You see, God does not say that you will have a life of leisure and ease. Instead, He bestows on you something far more vast—His strength, power, authority, and dominion! His promises make the demons flee, mountains move, and giants fall.

How God Fulfills His Promises…

God fulfills His promises to you through the working of the Holy Spirit in your life. The above guarantees encompass strength, courage, walking through fire, and peace. God informs us that we will face the trials throughout our lifetime… this is inevitable to an extent.

However, He also graciously entrusts us with His power so that we can stand against the powers and principalities of darkness. Through this guaranteed transfer of dominion, His name is glorified!

Rejected by the world… accepted by God

God’s guarantee extends beyond our experiences. We have all been rejected, picked on, or chosen last. The Word of God speaks to this very predicament we have been faced with…

“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”—Matthew 5:11-12

But notice the BIGGER GUARANTEE… “for great is your reward in heaven.”

When you seek God’s wisdom, guidance, power, and strength, your heart begins to delight in His ways. A transformation takes place. Your Father starts to reconstruct you into the image of Christ rather than the reflection of the world.

Another Guarantee… You cannot be a part of both!

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”—Matthew 6:24

Jesus knew that we would be tempted to blend into God’s family as well as with the world. Fortunately, we are not alone to find our way. God gave us a Helper—one to guide and convict us when we get too close to the darkness and out of the presence of God—the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit bridges the gap between Heaven and Earth so that the Father’s resources can be manifested here on Earth. You are the house of the Holy Spirit. He wants to use YOU to demonstrate His power!

Are you listening to the Spirit who dwells in you?
