You Are a Citizen of God’s Kingdom

What does it mean to be a citizen of God’s Kingdom? It means that, as a Believer, wherever you call home today, it is not your eternal home. There will be trials and hardships here on earth, but you can look forward to a heavenly home because you are a citizen of God’s Kingdom.

Now, this is not to be so focused on Heaven that you miss out on being a part of what God is doing on earth. Perhaps you’ve heard it said, “Don’t be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good.”

Rather, you can understand that this is not your home, and that you have a purpose while you are here to be a light and reveal the glory of the Lord. You have an opportunity to be a partner with Him as He manifests Himself on earth. 

A Citizen of God’s Kingdom Bible Verses

• “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”—Philippians 3:20-21
• “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”—2 Corinthians 5:8
• “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”—Colossians 1:13-14
• “For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.”—Hebrews 13:14

The Hope You Have When Earthly Nations Fall

As the nations’ political, economic, and spiritual atmospheres shift, we have to think about our citizenship differently. We must start to hope for and expect the unseen things to be revealed—God’s Kingdom and glory are about to break through!

• “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”—Hebrews 11:1-3

The gift of faith is an “eye” that allows you to see the spiritual realm. It is a willing heart to trust in the Word of God and cling to it as you wait for His Kingdom to arise.

• “…while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”—2 Corinthians 4:18

When you fix your eyes upon what is unseen, you see the weight of God’s glory revealed!

When the earthly nations fall, it is an opportunity for many to come to know the Lord, to see His glory, and to feel the peace that only He can give. When the things of this world fail, we have hope for what is to come

• “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”—Philippians 2:9-11

As a citizen of God’s Kingdom, we can be confident the coming glory will be greater than anything we could imagine. But we also know that the enemy will also be pouring out destruction and lies as we wait. So then, start warring in prayer as a citizen of God’s Kingdom!

Decrees to Make as a Citizen of God’s Kingdom 

If you are a citizen of God’s Kingdom and a good soldier of Christ (2 Timothy 2:3), you must then put on God’s armor (see Ephesians 6) and war in the spirit, in the Courts of Heaven through prayer, thanksgiving, and petitions. 

Isaiah 60:1-3

· “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

Decree…

“Father God, as I come into Your heavenly courts, I decree that the glory of the Lord is upon my family and me. Though darkness may cover the earth and the people, the Shekinah glory of the Lord will arise of my home and my family. His glory will be seen, and those around me will be attracted to the light, in Jesus’ name!”

Isaiah 43:18-19

“Do not remember the former things nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”

Decree… 

“Father God, as I come into Your heavenly courts, I renounce all old wounds and distractions of the former things. I decree the old sins are expunged in the Courts of Heaven and my soul. Lord God, the new thing is springing up. Thank You! I will know it, see it, and be a part of it. Let it flow through me, in Yeshua’s name.”

Isaiah 43:25-26

“‘I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance; let us content together; state your case, that you may be acquitted.'”

Decree…

“Father God, in my mind, in the Courts of Heaven, I decree that You have blot out all my sins and transgressions. They will not be remembered. I silence the accuser by the blood of the Lamb and the words of my testimony. I will not go back and feed my fears and failures. I will feed my faith, in Yeshua’s name. Father God, I put You into remembrance as Just Judge and Holy Father, let us content together, that I may be acquitted, transformed, born again, and all things are made new, in Yeshua’s name.”

Let the citizens of God’s Kingdom—from every tribe and nation—arise! Whatever the nations do, remember that you are a citizen of His Kingdom.

Joshua 24:15 is a verse that we must come into agreement with and stand on as families, individuals, and as the Body of Christ…

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
