The Key to Kingdom Prosperity

If you want to answer the call of God and flourish in what He has called you to do, then you must be spiritually prosperous and Kingdom-minded. When you are spiritually prosperous, then you won’t have to worry if needs will be met (see Matthew 6:33). Kingdom prosperity isn’t about money, rather it is about having a prosperous and healthy root system.
A root system becomes healthy when the seed of God’s Word, which is planted in the heart, is watered by the Holy Spirit.
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
—John 1:14
“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”

Choosing to water the Word planted in your heart with the river of living water transforms you. He empowers you with wisdom to remove the spirit of lack and poverty and replaces them with a spirit of understanding and knowledge that creates Kingdom prosperity.
It takes the spiritual disciplines of faithfulness and self-control to choose to walk in rivers of living water—every day.
The Key to Kingdom Prosperity is Keeping Your Roots Healthy

A Healthy Root System
A healthy root system is a confident and strong relationship with the Lord. A healthy tree has a healthy root system. And as a result, it produces fruit in due season. A healthy root system is also planted in good soil and is tended to every day.
“He shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
—Psalm 1:3
This is a Kingdom prosperity promise!
In short, a root system is healthy when there is a strong relationship with the Lord, and it produces according to the seed.
The seed—God’s Word, Jesus—is planted in your heart. Your heart is the soil. The soil must be healthy to have a healthy root system. If you are struggling with unhealthy soil, start by getting into God’s Word every morning.
- Read a passage.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the areas in your life that need repentance.
- Write down how you will apply the passage.
- Write down how you will change a thought pattern or behavior to come into agreement with the passage.
- Thank the Lord for giving a Word that transforms and replenishes the soil of your heart.

Keeping the Root System Healthy
Protect the seed by protecting the soil. Psalm 1 tells us that fruit will be produced in its season. A healthy root system takes time to develop. As the root system is growing, it won’t wither if it is planted by the rivers of water.
Psalm 1 gives us abundant wisdom about keeping our root system healthy…
- Being aligned with Godly counsel—The psalmist tells us that we are blessed when we are not walking along a sinful path and unequally yoked with the ungodly.
- Delighting in God’s instruction—The psalm explains that when we delight in God’s law and meditate on it day and night, we will be like a tree that does not wither but prospers.
Two Takeaways to Keeping Your Roots Healthy
When it comes to Kingdom prosperity, we must understand that we are either withering or growing.
Now, understand that growth isn’t always seen in the natural, physical realm. When a root system is growing, it isn’t seen above the ground. But something is happening underneath. We can be sure that a season of growth in your roots will produce fruit.
Jesus said that we can do nothing apart from Him. He has to be with, by, and for what we are doing in His Kingdom, or no fruit will be produced.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
—John 15:4-5
What If You Aren’t Experiencing Kingdom Prosperity?
Oftentimes, when we as Believers are not experiencing Kingdom prosperity it is one of two reasons:
- You are planted in the wrong place.
- The Lord is pruning you.
Keep in mind that He could be doing both to get you where He wants to take you.
Maybe you’ve gone through seasons of revival and seasons of drought, and now it appears your leaves are withering—but could it be that He is preserving the roots?
Know this, there is a time for everything.
“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:”
—Ecclesiastes 3:1
Being Planted in the Wrong Place
Have you been uprooted more times than you can count? Here are some reasons Kingdom prosperity is being held back…
- Changing ministries and focus every few months or years
- Chasing your dreams rather than asking God what His destiny is for you
- Becoming impatient and making a choice to uproot because something else seems “better”
This is why discernment is so critical in this season. Whatever the reason for the lack of Kingdom prosperity being manifested, pause and get quiet before the Lord…
- Repent—Repentance is essential when it comes to Kingdom prosperity. If you are running ahead of God with your time, tasks, and activities, this is in rebellion to His will. Pause and take a moment to go before Him with a humble and repentant heart. Renounce any pride or selfish ambition that cuts you off from your Kingdom purpose.
- Replant—After repentance comes replanting. Sometimes replanting takes longer than expected. The Bible says you’ll bear fruit in due season (see Psalm 1:3). Guard against impatience. Trust the Vinedresser to guard and protect your roots.
- Revive—As you are replanting, remember to revive the root with water. In other words, you need to make sure the Word of God and the Holy Spirit are part of your everyday routine when caring for your roots. To see a revival of Kingdom prosperity, you need to be feeding your roots with the Word of God.
Going through a Pruning Process
Ezekiel says it this way.
“It was planted in good soil by many waters, to bring forth branches, bear fruit, and become a majestic vine.
“Say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Will it thrive? Will he not pull it up its roots, cut off its fruit, and leave it to wither? All of its spring leaves will wither, and no great power or many people will be needed to pluck it up by its roots.”’
“Say now to the rebellious house: ‘Do you not know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Indeed the king of Babylon went to Jerusalem and took its king and princes, and led them with him to Babylon.’”
—Ezekiel 17:8-9, 12
The reason Israel was uprooted is because they were a rebellious house.
Another reason God prunes is for our protection.
Maybe you’ve been on fire, you’re moving fast in the Spirit and experiencing a great anointing. And yet the Lord prunes you back. It can seem like an attack, but in fact, it is for your protection.
The Lord’s ways are higher than yours. He knows that your anointing will attract a large enemy, pulling out the entire tree. So He prunes and says, “Not yet. I want your roots to be even stronger. I want your relationship in and with Me to grow. That way, when the fruit comes, no one will pluck you out, no matter how hard they try.”
Two Takeaways When You Aren’t Experiencing Kingdom Prosperity
First, take time to go before the Lord and repent of anything that might be preventing fruit in your life.
Then, thank the Lord for pruning you for your protection. Proclaim, “Prune away, O Lord! Because You know when a storm is coming. You know when an enemy will strike. I know You are doing this for my protection, and I am in agreement that I will produce in due season, in Jesus’ name!”
Kingdom Prosperity is Always Connected to Your Roots
In closing, the key to Kingdom prosperity is keeping your roots healthy, that is your relationship with the Lord. Then you will produce a bumper crop. It may not look how you want it to, but when the relationship with the Lord is your focus, you won’t worry about the fruit, it will supernaturally manifest according to the Father’s riches.
Also know that you need Kingdom prosperity to thrive. So give thanks for what God is doing and will do through you. You have a calling and a purpose. Stay rooted in Him and He will finish what He started.
