Ephesians 3:10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. NKJV
When we read the phrase, “to the intent now,” it must be reconnected with what was previously stated to obtain an accurate context. Paul had just mentioned that he was “a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given.” This energa (energy or power) was to “preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”
So, what Paul was saying, is that the idea of the ONE NEW MAN, was God’s PLAN!
He would bring the Gentiles into the Covenant of Abraham and by doing so “the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.”
So, simply put, Paul is saying that God’s plan to bring the Gentiles into the Covenant of Abraham was so that at this time, through the Church, He might demonstrate His multi-faceted wisdom making His Covenant a certified fact that would result in putting the enemies in the atmosphere in their place!
Hallelujah! When Jew and Gentile become one in Messiah it releases God’s Covenant with man into the atmosphere and NO ENEMY can stop it!
This is why the One New Man must be our PURPOSE!
Paul states in Ephesians 3:11 “according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord”
The word for “purpose” in the Greek is prosthesin. It is where we get our English word, prosthesis. A prosthesis is a counterpart to the original. It makes up for what has been lost. The “eternal purpose…accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,” is that through Jew and Gentile becoming one in Messiah, the world would now see, know and experience Messiah and the supernatural covenant He brings.
In other words, Yeshua, may not be on earth now, but because Jew and Gentile are one, in Him, He is here reconciling the world through us!!!
So, how does this work? It works through PRAYER!
Look at what Paul says in Ephesians 3:12 “in whom we have BOLDNESS and ACCESS with CONFIDENCE through faith in Him.”
It is our faith in Christ and who that makes us that gives us ACCESS into the presence of the Father! It literally means the disposition of the Father is favorable toward us! Therefore we can be BOLD or outspoken with Him having the CONFIDENCE or assurance that whatever we ask we will receive!!!
The One New Man in Spiritual Warfare results in Supernatural PROVISION!
Paul says in Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever, Amen!
The one thing I learned in Systematic Theology that has served me well is that “context is king!” So, let’s put these verses in Context:
- The theme of Ephesians is who we are “In Christ.”
- The thesis of Ephesians is what we possess as a result of Christ having “broken down the middle wall of separation…creating in Himself one new man from the two.”
- The application of Ephesians is that when we operate from that position, principalities and powers are put in their place, the heavens then are open for us to receive the “Exceedingly,” which is beyond what we imagined, and “Abundantly,” which is more that we asked for!
And, all of this, of course, brings glory and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ through the Church!

Dr. Dwain Miller has been a believer for 40 years, and pastor of Cross Life Church for 22 years. It wasn’t until 2009 when Dr.
Miller heard Rabbi Curt Landry that he was introduced to the One New Man message. The message of the One New Man has transformed Dr. Miller’s life in many, many ways. The greatest of which is Galatians 3:14 “that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus.” It was through this revelation that Dr. Miller, a Bible scholar for more than thirty years, came to know and experience what it is to live everyday as the “seed of Abraham.”
