What is a Tallit?
The tallit, also known as a prayer shawl, is worn by both Jews and Christians. Its borders of the four corners have tassels or tzitzit.
Why Wear a Tallit?
Drape the tallit over your head as you pray. Wearing a tallit creates a personal prayer tent where you meet with the Lord.
The tallit is a garment with a rich history. As Believers, can use the tallit to connect with how the forefathers of our faith communed with God.
The tzitzit, tied to the ends of the tallit, acts as a reminder of God’s commandments. You can take the tzitzit and weave it through your fingers on both hands. The tzitzit is a representation of declaration, reminding you that when you aren’t strong enough to hold on to God, He holds on to you.
Put on the robe of righteousness you have through Christ.
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”—Isaiah 61:10
