Your Tithe Offering Is a Picture of Your Covenant Relationship with God

A tithe offering means giving 10% (Leviticus 27:30). It is about your heart and desires to obey God. Through this obedience, God promises to release blessings and protection.

Your tithe represents your connection and dependence on God, your Provider. It is a picture of the covenant.

“’Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this’” says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessings that there will not be room enough to receive it.’”
Malachi 3:10

The tithe offering…

  • Opens the windows for God’s blessings to flow to you (Malachi 3:10)
  • Protects you from the “devourer” so he will not destroy you (Malachi 3:11)
  • Reflects God’s goodness and blesses others (Malachi 3:12)
  • Reveals God’s plans and shows your trust in God (see Exodus 25)

A Tithe

A tithe means giving 10%. It is about your heart and desires to obey God. Through this obedience, God promises to release blessings and protection.

Your tithe represents your connection and dependence on God, your Provider. It is a picture of the covenant.

The Purposes of the Tithe

Many don’t understand the purposes of the tithe. Tithing has both physical and spiritual purposes. But most of all, the purpose of the tithe is to obey God’s Word.

Why obey? Because God is your Creator, Protector, and Provider.

When you obey the One you belong to, it forms a bond and connection. Trust is developed. The covenant relationship with God (meaning what is yours is His, and what is His is yours) is displayed in the tithe.

What Tithing Does in the Physical and in the Spiritual

Tithing opens the windows of Heaven.

In Malachi 3, God addresses the nation of Israel. They had been holding back tithes and offerings. The fear for most of us causes us to hold back from giving. We want to give after we receive. Clearly, from this passage, tithing is about obeying and trusting in God, then He will release blessings.

  • “’Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this’” says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessings that there will not be room enough to receive it.’”—Malachi 3:10

Tithing protects you from the devourer.

God continues, in Malachi 3, telling Israel the blessings that come from tithing. Not only will blessings be poured out, but the Lord of hosts—which means Lord of armies—will protect you from the devourer. The devourer is the “eater.” The one who eats up all the blessings. The one who steals, kills, and destroys—Satan.

For this reason, tithing bypasses depression (caused by having the fruit of your ground destroyed) and recession (caused by your field or vine not producing fruit).

  • “’And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,’ says the Lord of hosts…”—Malachi 3:11

Tithing reflects God’s goodness and blesses others.

When we, as Christ’s ambassadors, live blessed, abundant, joyful, and giving lives, it is a witness of God’s goodness to others. Your tithe not only does something for you in the spiritual and physical (blesses and protects), it blesses others too

Your tithes go toward helping those in Israel, and other nations see the goodness of God. People in Israel often ask, “Why does Curt Landry Ministries help and provide for us?” Because God has called us to, and His goodness is to be visible to others. When you tithe to Curt Landry Ministries, you are fulfilling Malachi 3:12 and believing God’s Word in Malachi 3:10, 11.

  • “’And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,’ says the Lord of hosts.”—Malachi 3:12

Tithing reveals God’s plans.

God does not need our resources or money. However, He asks that we give Him only a portion of what is actually all His. He asked the Israelites to bring a tithe and invited them to partner with Him in making a dwelling place (see Exodus 25).

After they trusted God with their resources (finances), He then trusted them with His plan—a plan to show them how to build the tabernacle so He could dwell among them.

  • “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering… And let them make Me a sanctuary,[c] that I may dwell among them.”—Exodus 25:2, 8

The Lies About Tithing and How to Battle Them…

Spirits of poverty and lack lie to you. They say, “You don’t have enough,” or “God won’t come through on His Word.” The way to overcome these lies is to…

  • Trust in God’s Word about tithes
  • Decree God’s Word about tithes
  • Activate God’s Word by tithing

Valarie H from California says…

“I am so grateful for the teachings on…tithes & offerings!”

When you understand what your tithe does in both the physical and spiritual realm, your heart is stirred because you know your commitment to tithe comes from being an heir, a child of God—the One who owns it all!

You no longer worry about having enough or fearing lack because you know God will bless you. He said so!
