The tithe offering means 10%. The offering is 10% of the increase (Leviticus 27:30). The tithe is about obedience and forms a connection to the relationship you have with God. It is a picture of the covenant.
The Tithe Offering…
- Opens the windows of Heaven
- Bypasses depression and recession
- Holds God to His promise to rebuke the devourer for your sake
- Serves as an example of God's goodness to surrounding peoples
Give a tithe offering, trust the Lord, and watch as He reveals His plans!
Description
The tithe offering means 10%. The offering is 10% of the increase (Leviticus 27:30). The tithe is about obedience and forms a connection to the relationship you have with God. It is a picture of the covenant.
The Tithe Offering…
- Opens the windows of Heaven
- Bypasses depression and recession
- Holds God to His promise to rebuke the devourer for your sake
- Serves as an example of God's goodness to surrounding peoples
Give a Tithe Offering. Trust the Lord. Watch as He Reveals His Plans!
God does not need our resources or money; however, He asks that we give Him only a portion of what is actually all His. He asked the Israelites to bring a tithe and invited them to partner with Him in making a dwelling place (see Exodus 25).
Why did He want them as a partner?
To bless them with His giving presence.
God Commanded a Tithe. Then He Revealed His Plans.
By commanding His people to bring offerings, God allowed them to demonstrate their trust in Him—trust in His plans and with their resources of gold, silver, fine linens, spices, and gems.
After they trusted God with their resources (finances), He then trusted them with His plan—a plan to show them how to build the tabernacle so He could dwell among them (see Exodus 25).
God used the best and most beautiful gifts that He gave to His people and asked them to use those gifts to build a sanctuary for Him. This action was to honor Him, and it was a way to invite Him into their lives.
The same principles apply today.
Why Does God Still Command a Tithe?
He still asks us to give from what He has provided to us so that He can be an active part of our lives.
“For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.”—2 Corinthians 8:12
God desires for us to give with cheerful hearts. He is giving and wants us to come into agreement with His heart.
Again, He does this for our best interests. If we give only to match a need, we can feel guilty, obligated, or manipulated. This is not God’s design. His design is for us to give cheerfully. Then we can experience the joy of the Lord!
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”—2 Corinthians 9:7
Tithe Offering | More of God’s Presence and Direction
We want more of God’s presence and the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives.
The problem is we often wait for this to “happen” and miss out on what God has for us in this season.
This is why God commanded a tithe, to open the doors of Heaven and begin His work in your life, and in the lives around you, today!
When we wait, we can lose heart. God has given us a way to take action and place our trust fully in Him. He’s given us a way to actively wait.
If God is Lord over all, then 100% belongs to Him. He asks you to give 10% of your best back to Him and allows you to partner with Him and be a manager of the remaining 90%.
This is to capture our hearts. “For where your treasure is, your heart will be also.”—Matthew 6:21
He says to test Him in this. From this, He promises to throw open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it (Malachi 3:10).
How to Open the Floodgates…
- Ask the Lord to direct your giving. If your heart is reluctant to give, ask God to reveal the reason and repent of it.
- Give a tithe offering (put a dollar amount in the field above) and pray God uses it to further His Kingdom.
- Watch as God opens the floodgates of Heaven and reveals His plans!
Don’t wait passively for God’s plan to be revealed. You can take action now.
God knows money can be a trap for us… but He asks us to trust Him, so that in the end, we will have financial freedom and abundance!
