In Part 1 of this 3-part series we explored what Passover is, how Jewish and Gentile Believers were separated, how Easter “replaced” Passover, and how this affects us. In this part we will begin to explore the nine blessings of Passover, their importance, and how we can benefit from them today!
What are the Blessings of Passover?
There are nine blessings associated with the observance of Passover, all of which—along with the lessons, teachings, four cups of Passover, etc.—are meant to set us in place for the year. God’s blessings giving us the strength to do all He would have us do; so we can weather any storm.
Yet, what are these nine blessings?
The Nine Blessings of Passover Are:
- Divine Protection
- Protection from Enemies through Positioning and Alignment
- Commissioning of Divine Authority
- Supernatural Health and Kingdom Prosperity
- Covenant Protection for Multiplication and Longevity
- A Godly Release of Fear and Respect from Enemies
- Relief from the Threat of Enemies
- The Gift of Dominion and an Increased Inheritance
- Freedom from Corrupt Covenants
However, we can dive deeper into each one of these blessings. Finding not only the Exodus promise, but how we can learn more about them in God’s Word… allowing us to understand how we can benefit from them today!
Exodus 23:20 says, “Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.”
God, through the observance of Passover, not only brings us into the place He has prepared for us—aligning us for His purposes for the year, EVERY year—but He sends an Angel before us. He gives us divine protection as we pass through each day; allowing us to follow Him wholly…
As we go higher in our calling the enemy tries harder to block our path, yet God, in setting our feet under His Passover table, gives us a HIGHER level of protection to match our increased call…
“Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler…
He shall cover you with His feathers…
His truth shall be your shield and buckler…
“A thousand may fall at your side,
and ten thousand at your right hand;
but it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
and see the reward of the wicked.”—Psalm 91:3-4, 7-8
Protection from Enemies through Positioning and Alignment:
While this second blessing may seem to be the same as the first, it is unique. The first speaks of sending an Angel to guide us to the place God has ordained, without our having to do anything but place our feet under the Passover table. This one speaks of allowing the lessons and teaching of Passover to transform us. To bring our hearts and minds into alignment with Him, positioning us for the year and protecting us from the wiles of the enemy—from the legal right he would have to say to God, “Look at their disobedience.”
Exodus 23:22 says of it, “But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.”
The very act of following Passover, observing it and accepting all God has to teach us, brings our hearts and minds into synergy with Him. That obedience and honor for God completes our end of the “bargain” and allows Jesus to speak on our behalf… to fight for us.
“…and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.”—Numbers 10:9
“The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt…”—Deuteronomy 1:30
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”—Exodus 14:14
Commissioning of Divine Authority:
Just as we require increased protection, positioning, and alignment to answer the higher calling God has for us every year, we also require an increased level of authority!
Imagine if a janitor was suddenly given the task of running the company he or she cleaned for, but instead of being given a new office, job title, and alerting everyone in the company of the new CEO in charge… it was kept a secret. Only what was expected of this janitor’s responsibilities had changed. But, without the authority that should go with this new position, not much, if anything, would likely get done. No one would listen to the janitor telling them what to do. There would not be the same respect that comes with the authority of a CEO…
The same is true for us. If we are not commissioned by God with the new level of authority needed to answer our higher call, then we simply speak to the wind; nothing happens. That is why Passover is so important, for as we sit at the Passover table of our God we are commissioned by Him. We are given the authority of Exodus 23:24,
“You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.”
With the commissioning and authority of God we can break down the sacred pillars of false gods. In the workplace. At home. Setting the stage for us to answer our call.
Authority breaks the yoke that would otherwise hold us back from doing what we are meant to do; allowing us to command.
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”—Luke 10:19-20
Supernatural Health and Kingdom Prosperity:
So, with the first three blessings we have protection, position and alignment, and are commissioned with authority, yet, there is still more we require to answer our higher call.
If we are laying on our couch sick when God asks us to travel—or in the example of the janitor turned CEO, if we are stumbling into the office pale, gaunt, and barely strong enough to hold a pen—we cannot do all we are called to do.
The same is true for finances. If we do not have enough money to even buy food and God is asking us to go out into the world, give, travel, and be His light… then we cannot do all He asks.
Begging for money every time we are supposed to do something is not what God ordained. It would not work for the janitor turned CEO, and it does not work for anyone stepping into a position of authority.
That is why in preparation for the year to come God has us set our feet under His Passover table. To take away our sickness and bring the provision of Exodus 23:25,
“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.”
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”—Deuteronomy 8:18
“But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves.”—Malachi 4:2
In the final part of this series we will conclude our exploration of the nine blessings of Passover and how we can benefit from this Passover gift today!
