One of the many humanitarian aid initiatives we pursue here at Curt Landry Ministries is our Beit She’an children’s music school program.
We strongly believe in the futures and destines of all children, as they are so dear to the heart of God and His Kingdom. This program gives children afterschool music lessons and opportunities in the city of Beit She’an, in the northern region of Israel.
How it started…
We began the afterschool music program in 2015, when we were approached by the city of Beit She’an to offer a safe place for disadvantaged children in the area to meet and learn some music skills after school in a safe and positive environment. It was staffed with caring adults and teachers, who supervised these kids while their parents were still at work.
The program had immediate success and was funded by our generous partners, allowing us to immediately get to work purchasing musical instruments, chairs, and other equipment necessary to prepare the classrooms for the students.
Once the instruments were purchased and the building and teachers were ready, we opened the program to the public, and it was filled almost instantly! After the first year, teachers and parents alike considered it to be a success, having seen a significant difference in the childrens overall enthusiasm for learning and life in general. They began to be more confident in themselves and take more pride in their work.
More support needed…
Right now, we have more than 70 students in our program, but this number will need to double in the near future in order to accommodate all the children who would like to take part in this program. There is a long waiting list right now of students who wish to enroll, and we need more instruments, teachers and other supplies to be able to let them in.
This is a wonderful way for you to be a direct blessing to the children of Israel. Many of these children come from a background of poverty, and these classes are among the few blessings they have to look forward to in their everyday lives. The type of difference music can make in the life of a child cannot be understated.
“Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me”—Matthew 25:40
