The Beit She’an Children’s Music School is a project that is near and dear to our hearts. Recently Curt Landry Ministries has the incredible privilege of taking 118 people from all over the world to the nation of Israel. We met with many people over the course of our ten-day journey, but the Beit She’an Children’s Music School seemed to be a personal favorite of many on the tour.
Building the relationship…
This small town, located on the border of Jordan and Israel, has experienced much hardship over the years. Because of its strategic location and limited resources, it has been a key target for missiles and numerous attacks.
Over the years, it has been our privilege to assist the City of Beit She’an in any way that we can. Through the generous support of our monthly partners, and through many donations, we have been able to provide much needed meals to impoverished families.
Before the state of Israel provided dentistry through their national health care system, we set up a dental clinic that provided state-of-the-art services to children and adults in desperate need of dentistry.
Some of our favorite works includes time spent painting a school building for special needs children. Their smiles and gratitude were contagious—the entire day was filled with shrieks of joy and laughter as once tired walls became illuminated with beautiful bright colors.
We are pleased to announce…
Now, it is our pleasure to announce that we are supporting a music school for underprivileged children whose families cannot afford such an expense on their own.
This year, as we took many of our supporters with us to visit our friends from Beit She’an, the happy faces of these incredible students greeted us. Not only did they meet with us, but they also prepared a one-song concert where they played and sang the song, “Hallelujah,” by the famous Jewish composer, Leonard Cohen.
You couldn’t help but see the joy in both the parent’s faces, as well as the children’s. Many of those who joined us on the tour sat with tears in their eyes. We heard many testimonies from those who contribute to the ministry monthly as Covenant Partners. They saw just how much their consistent monthly gift was changing these children’s lives. Children living in poverty now have something that is uniquely theirs… the gift of music.
A testimony of friendship…
The former mayor of Beit She’an, now Israeli Minister of Construction, Jackie Levy got up and addressed the audience for a time, where he shared about the unique friendship that he has with Curt Landry and the supporters of Curt Landry Ministries. Mr. Levy expressed a since of pride due to all of the work that has been accomplished between the two.
Curt Landry also expressed his heartfelt thanks for all those who had helped to make the work we do possible in Beit She’an. He revealed that without the consistent support from contributors it could not have taken place.
One of our Covenant Partners related this story…
“At the closing of the concert, one child’s mother came up to me and in broken-English asked me several times, “Why do you do this? Why do you do this for our children?” Honestly, I was shocked by the question. I saw the beautiful look on the children’s faces, and I said, “It is because of their smiles.” But the mother asked me again, “But why do you do this for OUR children? For our Jewish children?” I responded with tears in my eyes… “Because we love you. We love the nation of Israel.”
Sharing the love of Christ…
Once the concert was over, many of the tour members mingled and met with the families who they had helped support on this musical journey. During that time it was obvious that the children were extremely proud of their instruments—taking great care to ensure that they were put away properly.
