Holy Spirit Series | No Condemnation!

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”—Romans 8:1

Paul’s words here are powerful! Do you believe them? This authoritative declaration of NO CONDEMNATION comes to us in Yeshua—Jesus—our Messiah!

As Believers, we have a verdict of Not Guilty; Not Condemned! Paul wants to use logic to prove God’s declaration. Since God the Father does not condemn Jesus, therefore, neither can the Father condemn those who are in Jesus. Jesus promises not to leave His people. He promises to live with us and in us.

“…He may abide in you forever – the Spirit of truth… for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you… I will come to you.”—John 14:16-18

Our Savior promises to be with us forever… with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We are sealed to God for eternity. However, sometimes we still feel condemned in the here and now. How does this happen? Believers still struggle and are tempted.

Temptation to believe lies surrounds our lives. When we are amid a battle, wrestling with sin and have feelings of condemnation and fear; read and meditate on Romans 8:1. This is a place of peace and confidence during confusion and conflict.

God wants us to know, with confidence, when we walk according to the Spirit, the enemy and his lies must leave. God has laid claim on His children and wants us to live life abundantly.

Freedom

In our daily grind, we get caught up with our thoughts and plans. We begin to walk in our will and make our own plans. Our short-term memory forgets that God’s will is perfect. He wants us to seek Him in everything. He gave us a Counselor, Helper and Teacher—the Holy Spirit. Walking according to the Spirit is not only pleasing to God, but gives us an immeasurable peace. This brings God the glory!

When we are struggling in the flesh, the enemy enters in and robs us of the joy we have in our salvation. He makes us doubt our citizenship in Heaven. It’s when the lies start to creep in. We listen to lies like, “this sin is way too big for God’s forgiveness” or, “if you’re a Christian, you would have never done that!” Therefore, it is imperative that the Believer must identify when they are not walking by the Spirit. Remember, God is gracious, loving, kind and patient. He knows we will struggle, and He is ALWAYS faithful to be there when we seek Him.

If you are struggling with feelings of condemnation and recognize that you are walking in your own will, turn to God now. Pray a prayer of repentance, changing your mind that you will walk according to the Spirit. Pursue God’s will for your life in prayer and in His Word. Ask God to put His Words of Romans 8:1 deep into your mind and heart, pulling it up whenever those negative feelings start creeping in. Read, meditate, and write down God’s promise of your guiltless verdict today! God has mercifully set you free from sin’s penalty and power through Yeshua, our Savior!
